I wholeheartedly agree; you clearly see emotion effecting games at the NFL, College and High School levels

Ugh. I'm tired of this narrative. As a GA resident, I have the pleasure of being reminded once a week about "Bama privilege" when it comes to refs. So glad to see that other teams are starting to be proactive in their excuse making.

It definitely makes a difference. Some of the best pros are people that had serious doubts about them. Tom Brady is still using his draft status as motivation and he's won more games than anyone can even imagine. I remember Steve Smith for the Panthers kept clippings of bad things written about him when he was in the draft. There's countless examples, normally people respond when they are doubted. I think this is especially true of competitive people.
 
Anyone who has paid any attention to the Nick Saban era knows that opposition trash talk has rarely worked out well for the opponents. Even talk that has to be stretched in order to be perceived as the opponent slighting Alabama has been used to motivate the team and it has worked.

Why would Alabama ever care what a Vanderbilt player said before a game? Yet go look at the video posted earlier in this thread, where a Vandy players says "Alabama, you're next" after they beat Kansas State the week before they played us. We absolutely demolished them and the players admitted his "trash talk" was a motivating factor.

I don't think trash talk determines whether the players are focused or not. But rather impacts the degree of the focus. It's one thing to get a focused Alabama team. It's an entirely different animal to get a hyper focused Alabama team filled with anger. That's when "can't cross midfield" happens.

I wouldn’t call you a fool; you are an Alabama fan and I respect your decision making ability too much for that type language. We just obviously disagree on how trash talk effects players....and it’s ok to disagree. RTR
