Kirk's Gameday remarks...

I kinda took it to mean that with Ingram and our stable of runners in the backfield, having a great, do-it-all QB is not necessary. Sounded like a sideways compliment.

Ten people from Alabama will take it to mean ten different things. It's the same with any fanbase not just Alabama. You hear what you want to hear.

I think Herbie is one of, if not the best commentators going. IMO his only problem is that he tries too had to keep every fanbase happy with his comments. I'd like to see him jump off the fence once in a while.

greg is not a tebow, mccoy, clausen, mallett, but he is our qb, and once again, he is a game manager, with a lot of tools to play with. the one constant with greg, is when the off line blocks well, and he has good time to pass he is consistent. the off line seems to have improved the last 3 or 4 games, and greg is back. this team is gathering the stats winners need. defense, and rushing game is creating a lot of havoc among teams.

I agree, I would like to see what QB out of all 119 D1 teams has went undefeated against better competition than Gmac. Tebow maybe but there isn't a Va Tech on UF's schedule
Va Tech? Are you kidding? I would rather play Va Tech instead of LSU at Death Valley on SATURDAY NIGHT any day. Va Tech has shown that they are not as good as everyone thought when we played them.

17 years ago we did not have the coverage we have today. What would they have said about Jay Barker? I believe Jay has a National Championship ring. And the combine number of those rings among the Gameday Crew?

Herbie also said after BYU beat Oklahoma(when they lost their QB), that not only would we be talking about BYU in a BCS game but the NC game because the next week they were getting ready to play a great FSU team. Neither of which will be in a BCS game. So I wouldn't concern myself with what those two idiots say on ESPN. They really have no clue and Herbie thinks that they only play football in Ohio.

WOW just WOW!

I like Herbstreit a lot, and I think he likes and respects Alabama a lot.

I think he probably meant that you don't have to have a great or even good QB performance every game in order to win it. Gmac has a had a couple of games in which he did not play well and Bama still won.

I think this was the point Herbstreit was trying to make. But, it's open to interpretation. He always has plenty of good things to say about Bama.

And who are your best NON CONFERENCE GAMES?

and as I recall we beat them last year in Death Valley (when they were a much better team)

Some of you folks put way more into what announcers say then you should. Enjoy the game and turn down the sound if you must.

A lot of people put too much emphasis on what people say in any case. I've found that in normal conversation, only about 25% of what people say contains any useful or even pertinent content. Nature abhors a vacuum and it seems that people fill any "uncomfortable silence" with "fluff" speech that is generally not very well thought-out. It is usually that fluff that contains ambiguity that ends up being misinterpreted and the shame of it is that if we could just keep our mouths shut when we have nothing useful to say, we could probably avoid it.

At least that seems what gets me in trouble. Probably less than 25% of what I say is useful anyway.

The fact of the matter is that all these guys are fans of a certain team, and there aren't that many things scarier than a great Alabama team. The remark was uncalled for though.

Having said that, it would be a nightmare if Greg got hurt. If anyone else knows what I mean.
