Kirk's Gameday remarks...

Well compared to the other 2 top 3 teams we are at a dis-advantage but yes the comment was totally uncalled for. G Mac is in his first year as a starter and un-defeated how many teams in the country can say that????????????????

I think KH shot out a zinger in a window of opportunity. I doubt he thinks that GM is terrible. I'm sure he knows GMac has had some struggles. KH is a QB, and I'm sure he is more enthralled with passing attacks than running attacks. I believe it more accurately shows that his zingers need work than personal ill will for GMac and Bama.

So what, then? Water, meet duck's back. Herbie tries to be objective without being stuffy. Sometimes he succeeds, this time he didn't. Mulligan.

However, Herbie, if you read Tidefans, we expect better from you in the future...:PDT_nunu:

As has already been noted GMac's stats are good. A couple of weeks ago his were compaired with Tebow and there was little difference. I can't imagine what he was thinking.

Let me say one last thing and then we can put this one to bed. First, I generally like KH and feel much the same as Brett says about him. He generally leans, if anything, a little in our direction. The think with Greg is an anomaly. I think what's going on is that he just feels let down by Greg. Before the season, he was assuring everyone that Bama had nothing to worry about at the QB. And, in the initial games, it appeared that he was right. Then Greg hit his slump and KH jumped off the bandwagon. If Greg keeps on playing like he has recently, people will be jumping back on...

the whole gmac thing is so totally overstated by the media. compare his stats to tebow's. do they "cringe" when tebow goes back to pass. from what the media say, you'd think gmac was a terrible qb. the only concern i have is the potential negative effects it might have on mcleroy, otherwise, i couldn't give a rip. gmac may not be a "great" qb, but he's far from bad and not even close to what people are saying about him.

GMAC 159 265 1993 60.0 7.52 14 4 137.6

TBOW 145 223 1945 65.0 8.72 14 4 155.4

this outsider sees nothing wrong in McCelroy's performance..

he has had a better year than any of JP Wilson's years, and his numbers are even slightly better than Brodie Croyle's numbers as a senior.

He has completed 60% of his passes and has a great 14-4 TD-int ratio.

He has nothing to be ashamed about.

That said, much ado about nothing in what Herbstriet said, I think he calls them like he sees them, and that sounds like an off the cuff remark anyway.

I was an off the cuff retort to what Corso or Fowler said, just a zinger which he probably wished he could take back after the MSU performance.

I heard the comment from Herbie about cringing everytime GMAC went back to pass. However I thought one of the other guys had made a comment earlier about what Bama's season would be like if GMAC got hurt. I thought Herbie's comment was in reference to that. I may be wrong here.
