News Article: Lane Kiffin empathizes with Tennessee's Josh Heupel over officiating in Alabama loss

Yes, there was some home cooking in Tuscaloosa Saturday night but it never reached close to the ridiculous level as that achieved at Rocky Flop last season when the ref cheered a TN TD. Young was physically assaulted all game but no roughing the passer calls were ever made. I don't want' want to hear any whining from Kiffin or Orangeland.
Like what? What was the home cooking?

Honestly, I've mostly just seen it on twitter. It's all over the place.

But here is a taste from one board that I saw posted elsewhere
“In fact, most people I know hate Bama and won’t even watch the playoffs if they are in it because they know they are corrupt.”

My favorite part. Dude probably it needs to take a break from the internet.

By the time Saban retires, Steele will be as old as Saban is now.

I think he's a non-starter.

Plus, his one stint has a full-time HC didn't go very well (he went 1-31 in the Big 12 when he was the HC at Baylor).
I am just saying Steele is a better coach than anyone on that list right now. With luck, Coach will be with us at least 5 more years so the field will look different by then. But none of the rehab coaches or Lanning impress me at all.

Steele was last a head coach 20 years ago and compiled a 9-36 record with 1 conference win in 4 years.

I'm still hoping we get Dan Lanning, but by the time Saban retires, that might change.
I've given up on it. It will be what it will be.

I will say I always wanted Kirby before finding out he was a huge doosh when he left for Georgia. I'm never right about these things. I thought Mike Stoops would be a sure fire NC winning coach like his brother and that's who I wanted back when fRAN pulled his stunt. I missed that one horribly. But Kirby has proven out. And not surprisingly since he stayed with Coach Saban the longest.

I just hope we don't waste a hire on someone like Bill Curry back in 1987.

I am just telling you what I see. There is a contingent of folks on this board that think kitten and sark deserve to the next Bama head coach but I think it would be a big mistake. I still maintain Kevin is a better coach than Lane, Steve or Dan.

Dig that. Kitten is a good play caller and has a funny disposition but dude is a horrible head coach IMHO. Hope he never steps foot in Tuscaloosa again except for the dates when he brings his team for its flogging.
That’s one bad hot take you have there. If he’s a bad HC then who are the good ones? He may never be the HC at Alabama and that’s fine. I’ll pull for whoever we have, but the guy has grown since USC and was in an awful situation there with sanctions. He took an ole miss team that was an absolute dumpster fire and has a great shot to go to a new years 6 bowl with a program that has a fraction of the resources of the blue bloods. He’s done more with less at ole miss. He is way better there than Freeze was and as far as we know he’s not bringing in call girls for recruits. Ole Miss is a solid too 15 program at this point. He’s not CNS, who is, but he’s way better than most college head coaches.

I am not saying Lane is a bad coach. I am saying he is not Bama material AT ALL. Freeze still has a better winning percentage in 4 years than kitten in his 3rd. You want to talk about turn arounds at ole sis, Tommy Tuberville had a much better run there after the Billy Brewer disaster. I thought the landsharks would be in the doldrums for years but Tubbs got them competitive immediately during sanctions. We like to make fun of them but there is a heck of a lot of talent in and around Mississippi.

The motivation for corrupt refs fixing Bama’s games is clearly about greedy people getting richer, but can someone educate me on how this works? So the SEC makes a lot more $$$ if SEC teams make the playoffs, right? Ok I get that, but why is Bama so protected? They really aren’t that great of a team this year. We are the power players so motivated to protect Bama? Tennessee only had 1 loss going into yesterdays game just like Bama. Does the SEC think we are too risky to protect - we are more likely to slip up and lose again? Is it really just about protecting the few teams that have the easiest path to the playoffs? It can’t be about viewership or fans traveling. You can’t tell me that Bama travels better than UT or has more viewership. In fact, most people I know hate Bama and won’t even watch the playoffs if they are in it because they know they are corrupt. The first time Georgia played Bama in the championship, I think it was 2017- I still remember that there were several calls that clearly favored Bama. Towards the end of the game, Fromm got thrown on the ground well after the play was over. The ref was right there and refused to throw a flag (I don’t like GA either, but was amazed at this). Back to my question- why does everyone get richer when Bama wins and why is everyone so terrified to speak out against a tiny little man (Saban) and corrupt refs? Is the mob involved? Are lives being threatened? Why is a backwards, podunk state so powerful? How are they generating so much cash?

I couldn't get it to quote the message from Rolltide_HTTR to I copied and pasted it. This message was from Volnation and after last year I think it's hilarous reading their whining about the refs.

What are your thoughts on Dave Aranda? I hear the guy has an extremely high football IQ and I hear he is a very disciplined style of coach. I know his defenses at LSU were stout.

Not to hijack the thread but he isn’t doing so well in a generally weaker conference so I’d pass on Aranda.

I don't know where anyone is saying it was home cooking or the refs did a poor job. On the holding callout in the flats the TE DID grab his jersey and albeit a tug it was what a hold is. On the holding call on the DB he did have his arms around his waist and pulled #3 back from forward progress also a holding call..... Maybe they are so used to getting away with bloody murder (see last year ucheat game) that they actually forgot what a fair called game was.
Any call missed was a mystery to me as I have watched the game three times. We had a few holds that could of been called but SO DID they. Then I won't even go into the blatant punch to the head that wasn't called which should have been an ejection and a penalty.... So, they can cry me a river it was an evenly called game they just forgot to pay the refs this year.

You literally called him “a horrible head coach IMHO”. Tough to read that any other way. Freeze is at .609 winning percentage at Ole Miss for his complete tenure and Kiffin is at .674. You are cherry-picking years to get the result you want. Kiffin has no losing seasons there while Freeze has a 5-7. Kiffin may not be "Bama material", but he's not horrible as you clearly stated, and are now trying to pull the hot take off the table.

Yep, horrible head coach but I am not saying he is a bad play caller or even OC. As far as winning percentage is concerned, this is the link I saw (though I can say i dislike wikipedia with a passion).
This is just my opinion. If he ever landed in T-Town I would support him just like I did Shula, Dubose and the like but I certainly would not lobby in his favor.

With my tin foil hat on: Tennessee has a loss coming up in Georgia. Keeping Alabama at one loss keeps the West representative (LSU) with a still respectable record. The idea is to ensure that at least one from the SEC makes it (Champ), while the loser (if it’s Georgia) has a strong argument to get in as well.
