LANK/NIL...

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Auburn signed him just like they hired Freeze. They have one thing in common. A win(s) against Alabama at some point somewhere. That is the only reason.
If necessity is the mother of invention, then desperation is most certainly the father.

Freeze will be in year three. And has a record worse than Harsin in the two years prior. The heat is on.

Cliff notes appreciated for anyone so inclined...

To me the most insightful thing he said was (paraphrased) is that you cannot have the OG continually coming up with a plan to fix the new era of CFB. The problem is that they are allowing all of the competing OG interests to determine what is best for the sport but all they do is push what is best for them. Bowl interests vs playoffs, amateurism vs NIL, etc.

Snuffy’s take...
To fix this will require someone with a fresh perspective, possibly some NFL management types, since this is now a professional sport. As far as bowl games & history, etc., as much as I hate to say it, those days are gone (much like the PAC 12 and SWC). Get over it and move on. Give us a sport we can get comfortable with or risk losing your audience to the NFL, which is currently a much more stable product year on year.

Just let the NFL take it over and run it.

The NCAA is totally useless.

One thing we all have to remember is that all of this nonsense is far bigger than football. It is also the same for basketball, baseball, gymnastics, soccer, rowing, softball, etc etc etc. This insanity has to be fixed across all collegiate sports. The NFL isn’t going to be a solution.

There are also huge socio/political issues in women's sports that have absolutely got to be fixed at the federal level for women's sports to continue to exist. Collegiate sports as a whole is a dumpster fire right now.

So Duke FOOTBALL is setting up a two year NIL deal for this transfer QB from Tulane to the tune of $8 million? And this isn’t basketball.

This is absolutely nuts.

Duke has some deep, deep pockets.

IF they are serious about getting serious about football, they could pay there way into the playoff.

I will again say that it blows me away that anyone would pay these guys anything, but it is beyond insane that anyone would agree to terms like these. It's laughable. College football is dead, and I have zero interest in this perverted form of entertainment that is being born.

Well, I did see the Bills begging their fans to shovel snow out of their stadium last year….

Well they did pay them $20/hr and fed them so not really begging.

Shovelers will be paid $20 per hour and provided with food and hot drinks for their time. They will also be provided with shovels, but they can bring their own if they choose. All shovelers are being encouraged to dress warm as they will be working in cold conditions.

This is not going to sit well with a lot of their alumni whose parents still had to pay $40-$50K per year for them to go to school there even though they were valedictorians and Merit Scholars who could have attended most colleges for free.

The whole system is a mess, but the scenarios like this 8 million deal will backfire. They will have a lack of depth and talent in key areas. I think it's the same for Ole Miss, they're embarrassing themselves not investing enough on high school recruiting.

I have to say that I line Alabama style and plans for allocations of costs. 1. We already had a headstart by being the most talented team before the wild wild West. 2. When you have home grown high school recruited stars their money starts smaller and after proof of value being embedded in the community, the larger chunks of money can come from real NIL endorsements and other University partnerships that create revenue like LANK. 3. Find value transfers that fill a need and haven't gotten opportunities or proven talent like Green that's looking for a bigger platform.

I feel like Bama has filled it's needs and the only crazy thing they've done is potentially overpay Mbakwe who may at best be 3rd best corner or receiver on whatever side of the ball. Maybe they didn't overpay, and I definitely like the guy.... So whatever.
