This past Saturday was Allocation Day in Alabama so, since I was already in Tuscaloosa, I waited in line at the ABC Spirits store on Lurleen Boulevard. I managed to snag both an E.H. Taylor Small Batch and a Weller Antique 107 at retail!

I passed the time by watching Gameday on my phone. :)

Proud to say I am president of my neighborhood Bourbon club! We have 8 guys and we get together about every 2 months. Maybe more in FB season.

Some of our favorites in the $30 range (at least in Nola) Eagle Rare, McKenna, and the Elijah Craig pictured in the second post. If you can find Weller 12, it’s awesome and a bargain at $30. Poor man’s Pappy - same barrels and warehouse.
The ABC stores around here have a Saturday every month when they sell rare liquors (mostly bourbons like Eagle Rare etc). Coworker just told me about it, they sell it for about a third of what it costs in privately owned liquor stores (sometimes half but always a LOT cheaper). There are usually lines out front around 7am on these Saturdays (they open at 9).
I used to love Jack but didn’t care for most bourbons - but I never tried any of the rare ones.
Probably like tequila- Jose Cuervo makes me ill when I smell it, but put a bottle of CaboWabo in front of me and I might start drinking again.
Always liked Crown Royal, Johnny Walker Black and Glenlivet. Stoly was the silent bomber - going down so smooth then you try to stand up, and fail.
Never liked gin.

Hey, has anyone else accidentally - or on purpose, for that matter - mixed a little Scotch with a York Peppermint Patty?

I found it odd, at first, but pleasantly delicious, somehow...
