Those 2016 commits for LSU had better turn their phones off. If Les steps down or accepts a buyout, those phones gonna blowup.

(Not that they aren't already......)

It's a massive gamble, that's likely not to pay off. I don't think he deserves to be fired, but I understand their frustration. Trouble is, they cannot see themselves without looking through the prism of Nick Saban and Alabama. And that's doomed to fail.

From CoachingSearch.com: Les Miles is expected to have a “special meeting” with players this afternoon, according to NOLA.com. Miles will hold his weekly press conference around lunchtime.

Isn't LSU closing programs and laying off professors? Now they have $15 million to pay off Miles?

That money will come from boosters, not the university.

If I'm not mistaken, most of a high-paid coach's salary comes not from the school, but from boosters in the form of talent fees, etc. My guess is that a buyout is, or can be, financed by said boosters.

edit from the espn link:
Boosters have already agreed to pay the $15 million to $20 million needed to buy out Miles and his staff, the source said.

Les played at Michigan, right? Could anyone see him head north to Illinois, Maryland, or one of the other Big 10+4 jobs? Maybe to Iowa State or Syracuse?

Heck, even Mizzou or Minnesota?

If LSU is crazy enough to let him go, then I am excited for all the 4 and 5 star athletes we should be able to pull from Louisiana the next couple of years.

Probably doesn't deserve to get fired, but he's been there 10 years and isn't trending up the last few seasons.
Not to mention, his offense is boring and can't develop QBs.

Surprised they would pay that much to get rid of him, but not surprised they are ready for a change.

Have to assume there is a plan a and b if Les resigns today. Of course this talk could be nothing more than rabbit hole material and he's announcing that he is not being fired.
Either way, timing of talk is bad.

Probably not. But is that the point? It's his program now.
And it's been going downhill since The Humiliation. I don't think there's anything in Miles' background to indicate that he can resurrect things.

If he is fired, he will not be unemployed for very long. Another school might call or some network will call him immediately. Maybe he can replace Ole Uncle Vern?

Les' quirkiness would be a nice change of pace for a year or two on ESPN. Maybe he can replace Corso.

LSU is showing why they are headed back to the middle pack, I would imagine other coaches are taking note of how the boosters leak everything to the press when they turn on you. Miles has a NC under his belt, not matter your opinion of how he obtained it, he deserves better than this imo.

Wow.

If he is fired it leaves no question as to whether or not Miles has been 'processed'...
Games after LSWHO played us look like they were emotionally gutted by loosing to us this year.
If Les ate any grass when they played us, he must have got some bitter weed.
LF hasn't been the same either. We laid the blue print for beating LSU, bottle up LF and their offense is done.

Have the powers that be had the thought that maybe the team quit after the Bama loss when they realized they were out of the hunt? It's possible that no matter what the coaches did, the players just didn't respond because they didn't feel they had anything else to play for.
