Every time players jump up and bump each other after a big play, I think about this (although in this instance, I think he just jumped up and then came down wrong). Hate it for the guy and his team.

I would be fine if Alabama players kept their celebrations to moves that keep both feet on the ground.

It said he was celebrating a defensive stop in the first quarter. A bit early to be jumping up and down but I didn't see the play or exactly what he did.

I get nervous each time our players jump up/chest bump to celebrate and wish they'd just celebrate in a way that doesn't involve jumping or chest bumping.

Me too. Too easy to come down wrong. I`m actually a little surprised there aren`t more sprained ankles from it. Guess Coach Bryant`s " Act like you been there before " is as dead as a dodo.

I remember years ago Leroy Cook got hurt celebrating a stop (or maybe a fumble recovery?) against the barn. I think Bob Baumhower was the player he made contact with.

For the non-OFC, Cook was an All-American Defensive End in the tall, rangy style of the day — more suited to OLB today.

It was the end of Cook’s senior year, and treatments and surgery were nowhere in the galaxy of where they are today. Cook was never the same. Got drafted by the Cowboys, but I’m not sure if he ever actually played a down of pro ball.

The randomness of life.

Hate it for that kid or anyone that has to deal with these kid of injuries. I also don’t like the fact that this stuff is on turf ? Hmm 🤔

Martin Gramatica, kicker for the St. Louis Cardinals, did the same thing a few years back. Kicked a field goal, leaped into the air to celebrate and came wrong and tore his right ACL.

Part of the reason you see more knee injuries instead of ankle injuries is because of all the taping. When you immobilize a joint with more range of motion, then try/need to utilize that range, that force has to go somewhere...hopefully you have the strength to buffer it when it gets there

These kids are not emotionless robots .you can't take the emotion out of it without affecting play . He was jump jumping out of exuberance for his teammate . I don't like the media headlines that hinted he was showboating or something. . Hope he makes a full recovery. Seems like a good kid from all accounts.

I feel for that kid, he did nothing wrong, just celebrating with his team and something like that happened. But, we have to remember, athletes these days, regardless of the sport, are so much bigger and carry a lot more muscle than athletes from previous generations. Physics comes into play and when you've got a mass of that size and weight in motion the risk of injury is very high.
