I appreciate MA's taking the job at Alabama and realize his admiration for our program, its tradition and future; however, we have no clue if he will be a successful Assistant much less a successful HC. Based on what I know of him, he has the mind, the will and the energy to be a very good Assistant but time will tell as to how good he will be. I too hope this is CNS last stop before heading to the lake. I would expect 8 to 10 years health permitting which would put MA in his late 30's still awfully young for a HC at a major program. I could see only Texas as a real competitor for MA in the future.

If Major was pulled away from Alabama to be a head coach elsewhere, I assure you that, if the U of A called him back to be head coach some day, he'd come back in a heartbeat. Coaching at the U of A is his dream job. Period. End of sentence.
When Saban retires he would be my #1 choice.:)

On the heels of a very good article, Major gets immediate promotion to possible next head coach. :eek2:
They will be quick to call for his job if the offense bogs down.....mark it down.

AFTER he gets some HC coaching experience then sure he could be a candidate. I don't think we need to attempt OTJ training at Bama

"Because he knows that the coach at the time did not have a clue what he was doing"

Maybe it was because we could win the SEC Championship - spank Spurrier twice without needing Applewhite.

I just hope Saban can win at least an SEC championship as quick as that 'clueless' coach did

You are some "Funny Guys" ! Saban has not coached one game and some of you are talking about replacing him with Major Applewite. This is funny stuff.
hey moron...read the first post....I'm not talking about replacing Saban! I simply said AFTER Saban's tenure here at Alabama is over! Not once did I say to replace Saban with MA. Replacing means firing Saban and hiring MA and that is not what I said nor did anyone else say it!

Wow! great thinking. That makes a lot of sense because he was being offered the Head coaching job at Rice, but he took a smaller job and less money at UA. Same reason why Jimbo Fisher took the OC at FSU because he will soon be HC.

Maybe. He would be a good candidate.

But, I seriously hope we don't have to worry about finding another head coach for at LEAST six years, hopefully ten or more.
Amen to that.

I just want to ride CNS into the ground, whip him back up and ride him on ito retirement with hopefully a couple of NC's.

By the way its my 100th post.

I guess this could come into play down the road, but right now i think we should just enjoy where he and CNS are think about this later.

Amen brother! We tried that twice and lived to regret it each time. Let's let him make his bones somewhere else before we think about Major Applewhite as a head coach. Bama is not the most forgiving place at which to start a career as a head coach.
