Went to the link. Some very interesting comments. From the tone of the posts, nobody seemed to trash Marc. Some felt he should have stayed and some felt he would not have been the starter at Miami. I think many of the posters feel he will do a good job for BAMA. I hope so. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Typical Miami fans..

They crack me up with their "in over his head at Miami" comments. Like they're just worlds better than everyone. Pride cometh before destruction.

Besides, it's not like their starting QB (Brock Berlin) is worth two cents anyway. I've watched him for two years down here and I, for one, think he is a garbage QB. I guess Berlin was "in over his head" at U of Florida, huh?

Comical at best.

Jag, I totally agree! I was laughing at their >>>

"in over his head" comments. First of all, he was a true freshman when he left there and was 4th on the depth chart AFTER his injury and then he never returned to school! Those guys haven't got a clue about their own program!

Thanks for the link. That is some interesting reading to get their varied and different perspectives on Marc Guillon. Some UM fans like Marc a lot and think he will do great things. Some of them dislike him a whole lot. They called him a quiter and they think that he is starting at Bama because Bama has no one else.

What does it really matter now what the UM fans think of Marc or Spencer Pennington for that matter? I remember reading the National media's opinions and the Miami fans opinions of the 92 Bama team before the NC game. Those opinions didn't mean very much in the end now did they? These opinions of Marc are just about as invalid as their other opinions of Bama back in 92.

I say that because Marc is now the starting QB at Bama. I am pretty sure that he is not the same person or player that he was when was at Miami. Marc has been at Alabama and a Bama QB for over a year now. He is in a different system, surrounded by different players, and most likely he has learned a great deal more and taken a lot more snaps since then.

I guess what I am trying to say is the only thing that really matters is how Coach Shula and the Bama staff feel about Marc Guillon. Since they have picked him to start this Saturday over Spencer Pennington that means they like him a whole lot. I don't think many of those Miami fans know very much about this Bama team. What the Miami fans opinion of Marc is should have nothing to do with what us Bama fans think of Marc.

i don't think anyone in the country is giving Alabama 2 cents worth of credit or attention.... and i LOVE it. especially if BAMA can pull out some wins in this 4 game stretch leading up to the woodshed beating we're going to hand tenn.

miami has, since the 80's, thought that their poop smells like potpourri, so their comments do not surprise me.

Most Cane fans *34-13* are typical big-mouth braggarts who *34-13* will never give any other team *34-13* any respect.

They can disrespect *34-13* Bama all that they want, but the *34-13*all-time record against Miami still stands:

Bama 14 Miami(FL) 3

I'm sure some *34-13* Miami fans would disregard that record *34-13* and accuse me of "living in the past" and *34-13* would claim that Miami would stomp Bama *34-13* today.

However, after judging the *34-13* performance last year against a *34-13* common opponent(UcheaT), Bama(lost 51-43 in 5 OT) gave *34-13* them more of a fight than Miami(lost 10-6).

I don't *34-13* care about their opinion anyway...

I read the entire thread and it seemed to me that there was an undercurrent of sour grapes among those who tried to discredit Marc. It was either "he was in over his head here" or they tried to make excuses in advance by saying that if he succeeded at BAMA, it would be because he fit our system better or he suddenly matured. That's bull-sheet. The Canes haven't had a dependable, game-in, game-out, kick arse QB since Bernie Kosar and yes, that includes Testaverde, who could look like Namath one game and Cordell Stewart the next.

As has been pointed out, the "in over his head" remark is ludicrous when you consider they're playing with a Florida reject. Evidently their offensive staff leaves something to be desired, because they dang sure get talented kids in there.

Bottom line is that they are soooo jealous of BAMA and our long, long history of excellence. They try to compare themselves with us because of their relatively short period of success. They're looking for a shortcut to the prestige and history that BAMA enjoys, but we all saw what happened in the 93 Sugar Bowl when the wannbes bumped up against REAL tradition. They haven't got over that thumping yet and aren't likely to any time soon.

That was some interesting reading. They don't know that BAMA was Marc's first choice, he has some family in the area and if fRan had not been here he would have signed with BAMA. They seem to uptight about something bigger that a QB that left the program. I think that with our coaches we can be successful with any of our QBs.

Miami...

I am suprised that they actually gave the SEC credit for being a very tough conference. I would think they would be too busy claiming that the ACC is the toughest conference blah blah blah

Good link. There's been a few Bama players that left and went on to have
great careers somewhere else(No coaches though :) ). If Marc goes on to glory at Alabama it doesn't mean that he would have been great at Miami or visa versa. Sometimes players are suited for a particular system or philosophy better than others as most here know.

Good reference for top ten rated HS QB's the past few years. See how many you recognize.

Wasn't it great back when WE used to argue about a 4th string QB that transferred, instead of wondering if our starters will last past tennessee.

I hope we will have such silly things to argue about in the future.

The transfer thing happens everywhere, I still see the youngest Mangum kid playing in the NFL. He transfered from Alabama after his freshman year.

After the last couple of years I understand why Miami people think their team is head and shoulders above the rest. I think the reality is that their talent level is probably very very good, but not as good as they would like to think, having as much talent as they have gives them the false impression that they are untouchable, but having a talented player on the bench not learning tends to stagnate your debth, Alabama might in these dark years develope more "on field" talent and down the road have a better team. Down the road being key, we are not in their class right now.
