McFadden WOW!!!

According to ESPN (which is probably pretty accurate with what will actually happen), Dennis Dixon, Matt Ryan, and Tim Tebow are the three top Heisman candidates. I suspect that Dixon and Ryan will stay in the mix.
They have all played very well this year and should be considered candidates.
But, McFadden is a once-in-a-generation type player. It's a shame if he doesn't win. Should have won last year.

Too bad we haven't gotten a running back like McFadden in so many years. I'd like to see a McFadden, Hershel Walker or Bo Jackson type back at Alabama in the near future. Shaun Alexander is the closest thing we've had to any of those in recent years.

Well McFadden's only consolation will be the tens of millions of dollars he takes as the 1st pick in the NFL draft. If the Heisman doesn't go to Dmac it will not deminish him, it will rather show how out of touch the Heisman panel truly is with the college football landscape.

It's ashame McFadden doesn't get the Heisman hype anymore. I still consider him the best player in the nation and I am very worried about facing him again.

He was shut down in the Auburn game, which was nationally televised. It is hard to overcome that sort of failure when others might also have had bad games, but not in a game that everyone sees...

I'd invite Tebow, Long the OL from Michigan, Dorsey from LSU and then McFadden and maybe somebody else. Long and Dorsey are probably the two bestp layers in the nation, but they're fat and play on the line so they get no love.

Agreed, but I can't see how Hart doesn't make anyone's list. While McFadden will likely be a good NFL back, I would take Hart over him in the draft...

He also only had 17 carries in that game. I think it's safe to say that's a modest number compared to the number of attempts he normally has. He had 33 carries against us and 34 against South Carolina.

The Heisman should go to the best player, which is clearly DMac. But instead it goes to the best player on the best team. The Heisman trophey lost a lot of credibility in 1997 when they snubbed Peyton, then last season when DMac was snubbed it lost what little credibility it still had.

Really? That was the first and only heisman presentation that I have ever watched. Thoroughly enjoyed it. :biggrin::biggrin:

If Paul Hornung could win the Heisman on a 2-8 Notre Dame team, I don't see why McFadden can't win it despite Arkansas' record. The losses certainly haven't been his fault. He is clearly, CLEARLY, the best player on the field in any game Arkansas plays.

Not the same. At one time, if you played for Notre Dame, and could walk and chew gum at the same time, you were a Heisman candidate (i.e.Hart and Huart)

Not really. Most of the areas in which he excels will be eliminated from his game in the NFL. He will be reduced to a RB, not some freak back on a team with no other offensive threat. He will not be throwing passes, returning punts or kickoffs, or taking direct snaps from the center in formations from hell. He is no LT or Bush. He will be forced to become what he should have been all along - a running back.

Hart is a proto-typical NFL running back and has played in a system that has prepared him for the next level. We have no idea how McFadden will do in a pro-set offense. He might be great, or he might be average (not likely to be below average).

McFadden will get all of the press, but Hart will be a starting RB for a long time in the NFL. As a Giants fan, I'd take Hart over McFadden in a second. FWIW, Hart reminds me of SA, but with better blocking skills...

I agree and I've found it strange that I've never heard his name mentioned before.
