To be fair - he said on Mike & Mike this week that we are far & away the best team.
That doesn't balance out a moronic blanket statement that he obviously did no homework on.

If he said 'I think Alabama is the second or third best team in the country, and here's why....' I'd be less annoyed jan with his 'DeAndrew White' comment.

I really thought he was done when the agent scandal came out something to the line of him getting money for good reviews of their clients.

ESPN covered that up quickly but they did give McShay a larger role.

Can you imagine Chris Black and White being available.......WOW. I always was a bit jealous of the teams with a fantastic receivers all over the field (while we had the stable of great RB), not anymore!

I remember back during one of the drafts, a GM of one of the teams said that "his neighbor could do what Kiper is doing and he is a postman."

It's not really an excuse, but few of the "analysts" really have the time to go over a roster in depth. Herbie is the exception, not the rule. I can't count the number of times I heard "no proven depth at receiver," or words to that effect from talking heads. They just echo each other. The difference between Herbstreit and a hack like Kiper is that, even though he knew they lacked experience he knew we'd recruited lights out. Kiper just assumed that we, like most teams, only had one or two decent receivers. No homework done, IOW...

My question for Mel is what made him think DeAndrew was our best reciever to begin with. This isn't a knock on DeAndrew because I think he would have had a very good year but he was just coming into his own when he got hurt. Even with that I didn't think he was our best. Until Cooper came out in the Ole Siss game I didn't think we had a best reciever, just a bunch of guys who were all pretty dang good. I agree that this is the deepest bunch that I can remember at Bama.

exactly. Like I said, I don't normally get riled up when someone picks us to lose and they give at least some sort of rambled reasoning. Or, if someone thinks we're too highly ranked, they at least say WHY they think someone should maybe be ranked higher. No biggie.

But to make a statement like that, and having obviously done NO sort of research to back it up....that's just dumb and irresponsible. Not the end of the world, but it chaps me. Yeah, partially because it is about the team I love; but also because you're supposed to be a professional...do a little work. That's what they pay you for.

Not worried about him. That's an NFL guy talking. To me, he knows little about the college game like Jim Rome.
I'm no Kiper fan, but he's definitely not an NFL guy. The only time he makes an appearance is to talk NFL draft. But the NFL draft is all about college guys. All he does (supposedly) is watch college games and evaluate talent.

I think this hits the nail on the head. These guys are getting lazy. Instead of doing their own research, they'd rather just echo what someone else has said. It's pretty sad.

And rate them on how they will do in the NFL. I think the other guy is better though.

Anyway, how many yards does Coop get this weekend?
