Michigan fan challenging me to wager 1k on our opening matchup.. Thoughts?

This acquaintance of mine, "BIG BLUE" we will call him, has repeatedly obnoxiously challenged me to wager 1k on our opening game next year. I happen to know the guy personally, so of course I got the first challenge, then he proceeds to go on our local northern alabama sports radio station, and challenge any alabama fan? He has boasted to me, Denard will have 100 yards rushing, and we will be "outclassed", and out played. Now I'm not a gambler, usually anyways. I would like to know everyones thoughts, as I'm seriously considering taking his money.:BigA:

I'll take $100.00 of that...

In 2009 before the season started a really arrogant barn friend was talking smack. I told him to put his money where his mouth was and we made a bet for $500 on the game straight up. We wrote everything down and had a witness and we signed the agreement.

I went to the game and we were down most of the game. In the fourth i turned to my girlfriend and said im gonna have to go by an ATM and get the cash to pay my bet. But by the grace of CNS we won that game. It wasn't until January that he paid me and it was all in twenties. Lol. I've asked him the last two years before the season has started to make the same bet, but he has declined.

I say take the bet!!

Make the bet, but wait a while. There's plenty of time. I wouldn't make the bet until at most a month before the game. Too much time for transfers and injuries to effect the outcome.

Take the fool's money. Unless we have an injury disaster in spring and fall camp, we should be a 6-9 point favorite in this game and win by more than that. That said, I've never bet money on Alabama football in my life.

I'd bet Saban has already started breaking down tape on Michigan. Saban's record in games where he has multiple weeks to prepare for an opponent is very good. That being said, I think the game could be tough-we have to replace a lot of defensive talent and like everyone we play next year, Michigan will be psyched to take us down. And you know they want to prove the Big 10 aren't the chronic underachievers that they are.

Another advantage we have against spread oriented teams is that it is hard to prepare for us. When Michigan practices, their D is mostly going against their O in the spread. It will be tough for them to simulate the physical nature of our running game. It's also very hard for teams to simulate our coverage skills and defensive closing speed. In practice and in most games, D. Robinson has lots of room to run in all directions. Against us, guys will be covered and he'll get hit really hard when he chooses to run. Still, Michigan will be a pretty good team and if we don't play well they could beat us.

I'd say we win by 10-14 pts, but I wouldn't risk $1000 on it personally.

I'm not a gambler, and lesser do I even think about betting on BAMA. BUT, you're betting on whether CNS, with 8-ish months to game plan for michigan, can have his team ready to win? Take it.

I live here in Michigan. Take the bet. With the amount of time Coach Saban / staff and team have to prepare for Michigan and D. Robinson, and based upon Alabama's past hsitory in opening games such as this - ie. - Va. Tech and Clemson, I think the odds are in your / our / Bama's favor to win. Michigan is one dimensional with Robinson as Qb. Similar to LSU in the BCS. All I hear up here is that Michigan will win the BCS Championship within the next two years. I truly believe this will again, show the gap between the Big 10 and Alabama. Similar to when Alabama played Michigan State.

Roll Tide Roll!!

I'd make a prop bet with him on whether Denard Robinson gets knocked out of the game before or after the end of the first quarter.
