BREAKING Milroe declares for draft

I have some deep-seated feelings about JM. And they aren't good. He took much of the joy I have in watching/following Bama football away. As you get older, you start thinking about how many more years you have to watch your favorite pastime!

FWIW, I fully believe CKD was handcuffed by this situation and now I believe he's free.

EDIT: No, I don't put football first and let it control me before anyone says I shouldn't do that. But the part of my life that spends time on Bama football....that's what I'm talking about!

The last 2 years altered it for me. And he will be the face of it.

All the tools in the world. Hope he picks in on thinking the game pre snap and perhaps pregame better, and I'm sure he will

Even vs Michigan had a great timing route with Germie that was a NFL throw. Consistency is key

Thanks to him for the grave digger throw

Thanks for owning Kirby

Thanks for allowing Coach Nick Saban to go out with prestige and honor as the top of the SEC beating Georgia for the crown last year giving the university another SECCG victory.... and representing the Tide with class

Hope the new start does him well and I'm sure even your biggest haters from this fandom will route you on if you take off in the league.

Undefeated vs Auburn, LSU, and UGA with one SEC title. If the center could have snapped the ball to him he may have won the title last year. Pretty crazy, in a way.

I truly believe he’s played hurt since the South Carolina game.
You may be right. I thought after the UT game that he had to be injured because even with his flaws he had never been close to being that inaccurate. He threw some passes literally 15 feet over the receivers head. He’s never been close to that bad. But everyone in the program and the official reports, as far as I know, said he was fine.

He might have been. Several on here have provided such insight.

That said, if he was injured to that degree, that it limited him that much more than he already was, and he still refused to have a backup play that frustrates me even more with him as it's just another thing of him putting himself above the team. I have to think he was afraid the backup would outplay him by a big margin (based on what we have heard from the WR room) and he'd never get his spot back.

Folks want anybody BUT Ty to be the QB.
To the extent that might be true, IMO, it is because they have genuine reservations about him. I voiced some, and in my mind they are legitimate. I could be wrong but even if I’m not, the ones I’ve mentioned are fixable.

Hope we’re not going to have a pro-Ty segment of the fan base like the pro-Jalen segment where no criticism is allowed 😊.

he took a really nasty shot to his neck in the second quarter or so of the south carolina game. it seemed like his passing was much worse after that point, and i don't remember him hitting any long throws the rest of the season

As has been stated, Ty was the next man up. It was more about Jalen’s performance than who was behind him. Anyone else should’ve gotten a chance to see what they could do.

You have a much better chance of the Milroe crowd turning into, “I told you so” than you do the people who wanted him benched turning into Simpson-fants.

I'm right there with you. My son comes over every Saturday during the season to watch the game. This is time that we get to spend together enjoying Bama football. The last two years have not been as memorable in the way they were in previous years. I just want to know the truth. Who made the deal to start Milroe and why was it made. I have read all the stuff about LANK. I believe there is no way this deal was made without the AD approving it or being involved in it. The parties that made this deal, no matter who they are, have stolen from every fan that has supported Alabama football. And I believe they should be named so they can be held accountable.

That's just it. It was not up to Milroe. It was up to Coach DeBoer.
In fact, I would suggest that had Alabama announced he was hurt and that Simpson would be starting until Milroe got back to 100%, he would have saved a lot of face.
Think how his play in games since USCe have effected his draft status. Think his draft stock improved by playing the Michigan game? The Oklahoma game? The Tennessee game? I'd argue those games harmed Milroe's draft stock.
If he had never played again for Alabama after the USCe game, the lasting memory would have been the UGA game. Not a bad memory on which to wrap up one's career.

It could happen, but if it does, it should only be based on which QB the person believes is the best one to lead the team BASED ON RESULTS.

I never understood the pro-JM crowd who crowed over JM when the RESULTS were always lacking. And to be clear, I'm not referring to his highs (the good JM, so to speak) but the overall results, which I think means winning the biggest of games. And to be clear, many of the games we won during his starting career were NOT because of him. We won despite him.

The "gravedigger" will be a part of IB history, but he played awful in the game. And the SECCG against Georgia was not a great game by JM either. Gotta give the OL the credit for waking up and having one great game compared to the rest of the year. And when you start throwing in awful performances like UT and UM last year and Vandy and OU this year, the RESULTS didn't back up the vocal proponents of JM.

One other thing: I now someone will say, "Well, now do we know TS would have been better?" That's a fair question, but I think the answer is there were times when JM was so bad many of us thought, "It couldn't be any worse to play the backup, who might spark the team when we were struggling so much."
