Mississippi St. fan at work

Before we put Miss St to the grave lets remember that the spread/spread option offense allows lessor talented teams to be competitive. Miss St can easily draw from a "Utah" type team and take the stance that they don't need to have (on an individual basis) superior talent. They just need to get the kind of players that work best in the spread option and as Utah learn it to the point of second nature.

Remember, defensively we had no answer for a big portion of the Utah game for the scheme they were running. They have been running that offense so long now that it has become second nature to them. Miss St can shoot for that same thing.

I agree with that in a way, however my statement was aimed at the fact that MSU will not be good this season and it would take a miracle to beat florida. They will not be able to run the spread well enough this year to hang 40-50 points on florida (I believe florida will score this many points on them) with the people they have to run the spread. If CDM gets enough time to recruit the types of players to run it they will be alot better. When UM went to florida they did not have the players to run the spread so even they didnt do all that hot his first year, and they had a lot more talent than MSU has.

They were 10-3 counting their bowl win in UM's first year. That's pretty good for a new staff and new system. But you're right, they were loaded with talent. Not exactly what UM wanted to run his offense, but still plenty of talent.

Sorry I didn't really do that good explaining what I meant. They had a pretty good record and they had some good wins but they didnt make the spread look unbeatable like they do now. If you gameplanned against it a little you could stop it. UM also changed his style a little for Leake (sp.) until he fully grasped what they were trying to do.

Dan Mullen is no doubt a great coach who did great things at Florida.

But, to my knowledge, MSU did not get Florida's players along with Mullens when they hired him.

It will be an ugly game for the bulldawgs.

Exactly. I had to spend a month at MSU last summer, and I saw some of their summer workouts. They don't have the hosses for that system, yet.

By the way, Mullen almost ran over me one afternoon while jogging around the Hump. True story. He must've seen my Bama shorts. :)

Thats what I was thinking. CUM is not gonna need time outs to put in subs or score more than 70 in the 4th qtr.
