My advice to Daniel Moore would be, don't bother.

A question for the Birmingham News would be if the link above is to a news story or a paid advertisement. I don't recall any other legitimate news articles with a 1-800 # for sales info in the last sentence.

He is painting it because he KNOWS it will sell. And it will. Love him or hate him, he is very talented and that was some catch. He will do it justice. Of course, I don't plan on buying one...

I agree Bayoutider that catch was unbelievable no matter who it was against. I heard Coach Stallings say he has seen a lot of catches over the years and that was the best one he has ever seen. It is not being called "The Catch" by the national media and others for nothing. I think it should be called "The Amazing Catch."

I'll be contacting my art dealer this week...

I see her every week at UA games. I've got 8 DM Prints. I'll be proud and happy to add "The Catch" to my collection as number 9.

I fail to understand why so many on this board have already tried this case and found for UA. Just because UA brought the lawsuit, does not mean that UA was/is clearly in the right. Just because Moore was the one originally sued does not mean that he was/is clearly in the wrong. The fact that Moore counter-sued does not make him right, nor does in make UA wrong. I may be wrong here, but I don't think that anyone on this board has ALL the facts regarding this situation. What we have heard from each side is that sides story, as far as has been released. The truth likely resides somewhere in between the two stories.

At any rate, this is why we have courts and why this is headed for court...so that a third party arbiter can determine exactly what the facts are and which party is and/or is not entitled to what action and/or funds. That being said, I believe that, while courts usually get it right, they don't always do so. That is why there is an appeals process that goes all the way to the Supreme Court. Even considering the Supreme Court, my Constitutional Law professor would ask the question, "Is the Supreme Court right because they are final, or final because they are right?" pointing to the finality of their decisions--regardless of whether they would generally be deemed to be "right."

Sorry to ramble off topic. It just bothers me that anyone who has come down on either side of this issues is so sure that they are right and the other is wrong. I'll wait until there is either an agreement/settlement or until a final resolution in the court after all appeals are exhausted.

I agree! Last I'd heard (on the radio) was that a lot of folks were of the opinion that this whole mess was caused by the fact that DM refused to kiss so and so's you-know-what. I don't know the truth of that statement but I do admire it.

And while I know you can't believe everything you get from the radio (or a messageboard for that matter), I'd love to get a DM print...even now. And I have no reason to boycott his works.

:)

IMHO, Daniel Moore has been very good to Alabama fans. To see so many turn on him at the slightest provocation is sad.

I love the University, but some things done by the "administration" are not smart.

I called the 800 number last night...

...and the person answering the phones said that a regular print of "The Catch" costs $100 and an artist's proof is $300. Just letting everyone know that was wondering. I will definitely be getting one of these. It means something special to me because I was at the game. It was also an amazing turning point and there have been few catches in college football history that were more amazing...much less ones that could be represented in a painting. All of this disrespect to DM is uncalled for. His paintings are beautiful badges that we wear as the greatest college football team in history. Remember...you have to have an idea of where you've been before you can know where you're going.

Actually, I don't think it will sell very well at all. I think most Bama fans will ignore the Moore print and purchase one from another artist.

BamaLaw,
Speaking only for myself, it's not a matter of pre-judging this case at all. Even if Moore wins in court, it will have no bearing on my opinion. He should pay the royalties. If some poor guy hawking t-shirts is willing to pay a small royalty then a millionare alumnus should jump at the chance. Frankly, I think he has every right to paint anything he choose, but I don't think that should entitle him to make 10,000 copies and sell them for profit. Again, that's just my opinion and has nothing to do with the law or the courts.

I have several Moore prints, but I won't buy another one. Bama negotiated with this guy for 5 years before filing suit and then he sends his attorney out to do a smear campaign on Bama? To hell with him.

I don't understand why you don't think we are entitled to our own opinions without a court rulling saying that we can have an opinion. I guess being a lawyer causes you to think that only a judge can determine right and wrong, but for John Q. Public, we have seen too many judges, juries and courts make a mockery out of "the system" to put much stock in the whole mess.

Could you please explain to me the "smear campaign" brought on UA by Moore and his hired goons? I have not seen anything or heard anything but good words of "tradition" at UA coming from Mr. Moore. I will buy the painting, because I will never get tired of looking at it. However, there will always be people on this board that have something negative to say about everyone. Whether it be Daniel Moore, Brodie, Mal Moore, or Coach Shula.
