If this is true (and it seems like an odd thing to lie about at this point), and not addressed, DeBoer will lose the fans. Alabama isn't Miami. There's a level of class that's required. Alabama fans won't support a team of punks.

Sounds like Coach is on this. I like what he said. Sounds like there are ongoing consequences and awareness of how serious it was.

If I were CKD, I would sit down with Malachi and make him tell me what he did wrong. Make him tell me what his punishment should be, and if it involves anything less than running stadium steps and sitting out the USCe game, then he needs to pack his bags.

That would be very gracious of CKD and the very least I would expect. I'm 64 years old and very, very old school. I can only imagine what Coach Bryant or Coach Stallings would have done. But as a coach, if a player dosen't come off the field when I tell him to, he never gets back on the field.

I remember Warren Sapp talking smack and dancing after making a play as the Sugar Bowl was winding down with the underdog Crimson Tide holding a commanding 34-13 lead.

Yeah, I'm having a real hard time justifying his refusal to leave the field and the way he waved dismissively at his coach. I would certainly pull his status as team Captain. I would probably suspend him for some period of time. I'd also put him at the bottom of the depth chart and make him work his way back up.

If there are no consequences for your actions, there are no rules. This is the kind of thing I would expect from Colorado, not Alabama.

Well for the most part those 80s-90s Miami teams backed up their antics until the ‘93 Sugar Bowl and I don’t remember them ever losing to a team comparable to Vandy but I get what you mean for sure and we don’t want guys being disrespectful at all.

If what Pavia is saying is true we are more like Colorado with Shadeur Sanders talking smack before a game and then being down and losing because you didn’t back it up and then showing your butt because the other team clowned you and made you eat your pregame talk.

It paints a much worse image than I already had about our Leaders.

This about sums it up for me. I don't know if CKD has lost this team, but this team has lost me. It started last season when Saban said, "the team chose the starting QB." Born in 1960 and been a Bama fan all my life. Not the game I once loved.

CKD is in a tough situation. When he says MM was instrumental in holding things together during the transition, he's truly beholden to MM. But he can't let that upset the team structure. MM is not a coach. He doesn't have the authority to overrule the call to substitute. What's next? CKD sends in a play and JM shakes him off, like a pitcher shaking off the sign from the catcher?

I'm sure this is a situation that CKD has never faced before. How he handles it will determine his success and longevity as Bama's HC. He can't "lose the team" but he also can't "lose the fanbase."

That's great. Football has changed massively in the 40+ years since he coached.

There are a million ways to skin a cat. Just look at Sabans great friend Tom Izzo. Regarded by all accounts as one of the "goats" in college basketball and openly lets his player get into yelling matches with him. He says he loves the passion. Saban also had a sense of this where he wanted his players to have ownership and passion for the game and the team. There is a thin line between love and war and sometimes that passion becomes toxic in the right environment on any given Saturday. As I have said before, let the coaches handle it and we can judge the results as we see fit.

Maybe, but the same comment goes for people calling on Finebaum and offering what they believe Coach Bryant would do with Malachi Moore after Saturday.

And if Coach Bryant did not adjust his style to fit today's context, he would be a very unsuccessful coach and be gone in 2-3 years, so nobody thereafter would care "what Coach Bryant would do" any more than Finebaum listeners today call in to say what Mike DuBose would do after Saturday.

Is it a culture problem with most of the team still being Sabans guys and DeBoer playing things with kid gloves because those guys stayed? I imagine they've pushed to see where the new boundaries are....probably have talked amongst themselves several times and said "Saban would have never allowed that"

We will see how it all plays out real soon. USC ain't no pushover either. This is a turning point for the season, only question is which way does it turn. Could this be our UF loosing to Ole Miss moment? Do we have a Tebow like leader that can inspire this team going forward? We will see.

The last thing I'll say about MM is, I wish he had gotten fired up earlier, like say during halftime and focused it towards his teammates. Getting fired up or mad when the other team is taking a knee is way too late.
