I've known MM's family for years. He comes from a great family and he is a great young man. He was saved a few months ago and he made a very embarrassing mistake. Excuses don't need to be made for him but grace should definitely be gave to him. He made a mistake as a young man on a national stage. We all made mistakes on a much lesser platform and didn't get the opinions of millions about our actions. Should he be held responsible by the coaches? Absolutely! Does he need millions of fans piling on? Not at all. Let the coaches handle it and let future actions dictate our opinion on how it was handled. If I know MM like I think I do he will reflect on this and you will never see him act out anyway like this again. I love his passion but he has to learn that he has to channel it in the right way. There aren't many young men that I would let date my daughter, but MM is one of them. He is a great person and has a bright future.
I know that personally knowing someone or their family changes how you see things.

I trust everything you said. I too have heard good things about MM and his family. Used to live in Trussville and heard good things about him at THS.

But when you are a public figure (paid at this point) you have to own up to what you've done publicly. I'm sure family, team and coaches will address this with him.

I also expect they'll give him an opportunity with the media and MM will own up to it and apologize.

The bigger point of discussion is how/why this occurred in the 1st place. College football is in trouble.

I'll believe it when I see on the field. These boys don't fear these coaches in the slightest.

Feels like their is way too much selfishness and entitlement.

I hope DeBoer himself actually does something instead of being mister nice guy in this situation.

Yeah, we lost, yeah we looked bad on D.....but what's really stuck in my craw is the lack of discipline and the constant bad emotions showing up on the field.
If I were CKD, I would sit down with Malachi and make him tell me what he did wrong. Make him tell me what his punishment should be, and if it involves anything less than running stadium steps and sitting out the USCe game, then he needs to pack his bags.

Sitting down the hall, Coach DeBoer has a guy that he may need to talk with. This was Coach Saban on GameDay Saturday at about the 6:30 mark. Does the situation call for being a “transactional or transformational” leader?

Look, I want to win as much as anyone. But folks it goes beyond what happens on a football field.

Yep, the next game shouldn't even be an option after that display.

But this is where we are I guess....coddling and no real consequences for actions like that.

Or we just get word that its all handled internally and everyone appears happy and Moore suits up and runs out as a starter vs South Carolina.

I don't need to know how it's handled. That's up to CKD and CKW. But if it is handled, then I expect to see a different behavior on the field.

You NEVER learn from doing things right! I know he has experienced losing a game before, so. What set him off this time?
There needs to be some serious conversations and punishment until he understands the problem with his actions.
Throwing him of the team is counter productive to him and our team.
He needs to understand that those actions reflect negatively on the team and the University, period!

He should sit for a while. A series, a quarter, a half. He doesn't need to miss the whole game if we are going to lose without him back there, but something to make a statement.

I watched that segment and really enjoyed how he talked about his personal transformation and how he changed his philosophy.

Will that work in this current world though when all the kids and their parents appear to be nothing but transactional? I know its different than Saban's transactional - transformational......but kids are different now. Its about playing time and money.

I mean, kids these days don't want to deal with adversity....they just want what's easy. There's no fear of coaches, no fear of consequences.

While what MM did was certainly wrong many on here are acting as if this would have NEVER happened under CNS. Anybody remember the Ronnie Harrison/Eddie Jackson near fight on the sidelines during the USC game? I'm also pretty sure we never had any utterly ridiculous personal fouls on players who did something really stupid out of frustration. Let's not sip our tea and talk about how these things never happened before. I'm also pretty sure CNS never gave anyone a second chance either. He didn't care if you had been a stellar leader for the team for years, one bad series and a couple bad decisions on the football field (that by the way had no influence on the outcome of the game) and it was time to burn you at the stake. And in a bit of a twist of irony, DH was just talking about him and Najee dang near getting in a fight at a practice before the Auburn game they went on to lose in 2017. Yes it was in practice but maybe it was a sign that CNS had totally lost control of the program and needed to hang it up. Maybe we are all overreacting to the actions of a passionate player who certainly has bled more for this University than about 99.9% of the people on this board.

Why is it when opinions and discussions get going we always come back to things like:

You aren't a coach on the team.......no I'm not, obviously they know more about football.

They bled more for this team than you.....seriously, I've never played a down, I was never D1 level talent in anything.

I'll hold further comment on this one til I see what the response is vs South Carolina.

Actions have consequences. Or at least they should. Not for me to say what those are. But heck, we only suspend guys for a game for getting arrested -- even for things that created a public danger, like DUI.

If it is the only way to reach him (I hope it isn't) someone on staff should mention that every NFL GM that is interested in him is going to mention this game to him in interviews and to his agent in contract negotiations. "Not only did the situation seem to negatively affect your play, you could not control your temper or emotions, blah, blah, blah."

He has a chance to show maturity and take responsibility for his actions. Or he can pout. I'm rooting for him to do the former. I've done a barge load of stupid stuff in my life. I like to think I've learned from my mistakes. I hope he can.

I just read elsewhere that Damien Harris has STRONG opinions about what happened.

Not going to link or quote because there's some non-TF friendly stuff in his quotes but he basically said in his day (which wasn't that long ago) that either he or someone else would rip that 'C' right off his jersey and those actions would not have been tolerated from anyone much less a Leader/Captain.

He also is not impressed by the 'Buddy-Buddy' Coaching/Player dynamic.

So all that to say this stuff isn't just being discussed or frowned upon by the fans.

The guys that actually put that Crimson uniform on aren't pleased either.

I missed the end and did not see it until yesterday. MM's actions are unacceptable. The childish behavior is one thing, but refusing a coaches instructions cannot be tolerated. He is a captain and should be the example. DL carrys some blame as a captain and the rest of the defense for allowing this behavoir. Harris' comments on this was spot on.

Now does these mean MM is a bad person or this action should define him? No. But actions have consequenses and he needs to pay them. This is CKD's team and he will do what he thinks is right, but I believe he should offer a public apology (on camera not a written statement on twitter or to the press) and he should be suspeneded regardless whether of not we think he is needed to win. This is a bigger issue. Again, you CANNOT refuse a coaches instructions and there not be consequnses.

Moore's actions towards the end of the game were inexcusable - especially the waving off of the coaches to be subbed in. It is good that he was mad about the game and how it played out, but he committed a stupid penalty in showing his anger, and then blew off the coaches. The blowing off of the coaches should be handled internally - not everything CKD needs to be publicly discussed, just like how it was under CNS.

I hope that this was an isolated incident; I do not recall anything like this from Moore previously. He seems to have apologized publicly, so we'll have to see how it plays out.

Nice to see MM’s post. I’m sure it’s heartfelt. Now got out and lead by a better example. On a different note, I’d be more than happy to see some of the other QBs play. I’d love to see them by the third quarter of the SC. I wouldn’t be disappointed to see one in the first quarter actually. Roll!
