More barn news - NCAA investigating recruitment of Reuben Foster

Re: NCAA Meeting With Reuben Foster

I guess maybe they could investigate this to get ahead of the game when and if he signs with Auburn (or whomever). I would think until he signs there is absolutely nothing the NCAA can do. I mean, suppose a booster paid for his family to move, or heck, even just flat out gave them spending money. That is not illegal. If he for some reason never signed with a college then what exactly could the NCAA do.

I'm not flat out saying you are wrong, but I disagree. If I'm not mistaken, if Foster or his Mother took money from a barner booster then he is no longer an amatuer. If anything that would jeopordize his eligibility at the barn. The booster would have to be a family friend and have known them for years. You can't just start a relationship right before he moves to aubarn and start taking money. It's not illegal within normal laws, but it is illegal in the NZAA's eyes..

Did they look under "Paige?" That's her last name...

Surely they wouldn't be dumb enough to employ her under her real name.... I'm sure Lowder knows how to commit tax fraud/SSN fraud.... He conned a whole lotta people with his Colonial Bank bond offering shortly before the doors were shut. Still say that will come back to bite him in the butt. The Feds do have subpoena power and I still think someone who was conned into buying them might talk if the Feds close in...

It would jeopardize his amauerism at any NCAA institution if he or his family took incentives. That is unless of course the NCAA wants to cut a deal with him like they did with Albert Means and let him transfer to Memphis to finish out his career if he spills the beans on Auburn. Highly unlikely he would ever do that with the way they cover things up and keep people quiet but anything is possible. Reminds me a lot of the Cam Newton situation except early in the recruiting process.

Bryan Mathews and Scarbinski are reporting that it was the AHSAA and not the NCaA interviewing the Fosters

His mom said the NCAA to the Atlanta Newspaper. Someone is lying, whether it's her or them. I can't remember the last time the AHSAA talked with a player about booster involvement.

I think your post is , well , sort of viewing this from the wrong end of the stick , so to speak . This would in fact be illegal and would allow for the NCAA to prevent not just his signing with the school in question , but would prevent the school from continuing to recruit the player or even having any further contact .

Re: NCAA Meeting With Reuben Foster

His momma tells the AJC that it was the NCAA and that he wasnt offered no money by no boosters. But Im sure she could be easily confused by who it was that she was talking to and what the nature of the questions would be.

Move along.

Re: NCAA Meeting With Reuben Foster

1. Anyone can tell these people were talked into a really bad situation, Trooper Taylor

2. They are like a fly caught in the spider web & no way out

3. API does this year after year after decades, even Frank DeFord called them a serial cheat

4 API has Great Lawyers & lots of money & most important not afraid to fight

5. Nothing is going to happen at all, I don't care if someone has pics of momma stuffing her bra with $100 bills straight from Troopers hand.

6. Why do they get away with it? Simple, there is a Very Small number of people involved & they will Never talk no matter what.

7. any kid not sure on API & Bama I don't want at all, I know some will say CK but you forget he had really Great Parents who stepped in & stopped a kid from making a serious mistake.

I think if ever in our lifetime there was an opportunity to see the Barn burn it was with $cam but we all know how that turned out, most universities don't need to spend millions to a firm like LFW but there you have it, they do & it works, imsadto say.

Re: NCAA Meeting With Reuben Foster

JMO but I think they talked with both the NCAA and AHSAA. Maybe why there's some misinformation out there.

Re: NCAA Meeting With Reuben Foster

Rodney Orr (almost never wrong) said it was definitely the NCAA...

Love Rodney. I'm going to renew my membership there soon. Seems the boog media is trying to send out different signals to calm the masses and to wag the dog like they always do. I'll be interested to see if the NCAA actually does something to them. We all know how they operate and that the Foster recruitment was very shady (to put it mildly). I hope he never plays a down of football for them.

National signing day is six months away. Foster hasn't signed a NLI and hasn't enrolled in any college.

I find it odd that the NCAA would be probing a recruitment before the recruitment is even over.

And if this is the same group of investigators that were in Memphis last week, it pretty much tells you that they have gotten all the info they're going to in that cesspool.

Bingo-that's the $24k question. Looks like the NCAA is investigating *U's slimeball recruiting tactics on several fronts. Ordinarily wouldn't they wait until Foster signs or enrolls to perfect any case against them?
Hard to say what what evidence they've got or what they could do with it in terms of penalties, but the NCAA ultimately doesn't need hard evidence and maybe the barners have finally reached a level of depravity that the NCAA can no longer ignore.

The NCAA sometimes will not allow a kid to sign with a particular school if they have concrete reason to believe that the school has tampered with the kids recruitment.
