More barn news - NCAA investigating recruitment of Reuben Foster

Re: NCAA Meeting With Reuben Foster

Agreed. Just a guess here but I think she has/is speaking to both the NCAA and AHSAA. The no comment response she gave in the latest update from the AJC confirms that. Either that or the Auburn lawyers/boosters have coached her what to say or what not to say.

Or both

Re: NCAA Meeting With Reuben Foster

It's a dirty, dirty side of this game we all love.
Now that is what I would say is poorly worded. I don't happen to love the dirty dirty side of this game, now do you?
I know you didn't mean it that way. LOL I mean no offense Dallas.

Right and many times those high school boosters recruit kids from other high schools, even going so far as getting the parents a job in order for them to move so that the kids will play football at their high school. They are then pretty much beholden to the booster and will go to whatever college they are directed to. It's a dirty, dirty side of this game we all love.

Dallas first off I always enjoy your posts Now you are so right. My son was a really good basketball, track & football player in middle school & we were at a basketball tournament away & after the game my son had 26 points (that's a really bid deal for that age group) he came up in the stands & said we can't leave yet a recruiter wants to talk to you. I said recruiter what kind of recruiter he saiid from**** a local high school. Has really close ties to the Gators.

We left, one of his friends stayed, he was a great athlete but the shanagians made the newspapers & that kid had to sit out of all sports his senior year.

Parents it it don't feel right it ain't right.

Re: NCAA Meeting With Reuben Foster

This brings to mind the fact that AU almost lost their accreditation...

Re: NCAA Meeting With Reuben Foster

Since her kid is looking to go to the Barn, she should also familiarize herself with the initials ATF, DEA, FBI, and ADOC. Just saying...

Re: NCAA Meeting With Reuben Foster

I just don't see any way this amounts to anything at all. Unless they actually hired his mother, and filed all her forms legally, which they wouldn't be stupid enough to do, there's nothing to catch them. If they couldn't prove anything about Cam, a qb who admitted he would have rather been at florida, and who's father admitted to asking for cash, then there is NO WAY they catch a kid in their own city, who's entire family has decided to get auburn tattoos. On the other hand, there's no way they're getting out of this Memphis issue. Best case scenario for them, they lose their only bruising rb. At least we have some proof of something there

Whether there are any AHSAA or NCAA potential problems with Foster or his fambly; IMO we are better off without him knowing at some point in his collegiate career trouble will find him.

I know someone who has a very talented football playing son who has told me that people have been trying to persuade him to move into a high school football powerhouse district for years. It started when his son was still in elementary school. I haven't seen him recently, so I wonder if things have become more heated in that money and/or job offers have come into play. Hopefully, we will be seeing this kid in crimson in a few years since he comes from a strong 'Bama family.

I have heard numerous stories about parents driving several hours to and from work every day so that they can send their kids to a high school that is ranked highly in their kid's sport, even when there are good choices much closer to work. I wonder how much of that is parents making choices for the good of the kid, and how much is recruiting.

I knew a family where the dad worked in Montgomery at Maxwell AFB, they lived in hoover so the kid could play there. Dad drove to work in Montgomery everyday. Crazy thing--Prattville was just as good!

The Clear brothers. Played for Hoover when Rush Propst was there. They lived in Hoover and the dad travelled back and forth from Montgomery every day.

I've heard about that too. I thought it was funny since Prattville beat Hoover for the 6A championship the year I heard it.

See where I edited my comment to the correct situation.

Yes!

Yes! I met the dad back when they were doing this. I couldn't believe it back then, but my kids were younger and sports was the furthest thing from my mind!

Yeah, I don't think the kids were going to Hoover only for football. Academics are pretty good there as well.

Also usually around 20 mil in academic scholarships received per senior class each year. Not too shabby.

No wonder Hoover has been able to do well in recruiting. Giving out 20 mill a year to the senior football players? PHS needs to step it up.:D
