I was wondering what's the most points Bama has scored in a game? I see an 80-0 score against Sou University in 1916...could that be the most?

Also, anyone have an idea what's the most points ever put on Bama by another team?

Not the most points, but this game was one for the record books!

I was there at (at the time) Denny Stadium for the game (VT). RB Calvin Culliver had a career in rushing yards that night. Zoom, zoom, up and down the field. The 'bone was unstoppable. The VT QB was future pro Don Strock, IIRC.

It was played October 27, 1973, and was a night game. I checked the record book on that and it showed it as a night game, as I remembered. :)

I don't know about that night game thing. I was at the game too and I don't remember it being at night. I don't believe we played any night games in Bryant Denny stadium back then.

The 1973 Virginia Tech game was a night game at then Denny Stadium. I remember the game like it was yesterday.

The 1973 game against California was played at night also but at Legion Field. Bama beat them 66-0.

The 1973 Alabama Crimson Tide was a monster. Too bad some of the younger generation wasn't around to see that great Alabama football team

Don't know if that VT game was at night or not, but the 79 Miami game was the first televised night game from BDS. I remember them making a big deal about having to rent lights to add. The lights were good enough to play at night, but not to televise at night. IIRC, Jim Kelly was the QB of that Miami team, and we intercepted 5 passes that night.

The 73 VT game was at night. That was my freshman year. As I recall, we had 12 possessions and scored 11 TDs. (The 1st half clock ran out with us having the ball.) Our average gain per play was something like 10.5-11 yards. I even think the MDB got tired of playing "Yea Alabama" after every TD. With the huge rosters of that era, Coach Bryant was playing guys not listed in the program in the 3d quarter. I remember feeling kind of badly for the VT fans as they were leaving Denny Stadium after travelling to see their team get dismantled like that.

About 5 years later, VT came up on the schedule again. A reporter asked Coach Bryant about the '73 game. He said that that was one of the most embarrassing games of his life, because he didn't know what to say to the VT coach at midfield.

The '79 Miami games was a day game, but it was the first game televised from BDS. Back then it was only the lower deck and cameras couldn't get as good sight lines and also we didn't get the good teams.

That's right. The first night game was vs. Miami in '79 I believe.
The VPI game in '73 was at night. We had four backs that rushed over 100 yards.
The first night game was long before 1979. I know the '75 game against Clemson was a night game at Bryant-Denny. And there were several before then, I just can't remember those. The Miami game you are talking about was the first time a game was nationally televised from BDS. Jim Kelly was their QB.

The first night game in Tuscaloosa I remember was the 1964 season opener against UGA. They had a new HC by the name of Vince Dooley. Joe Namath looked like a veteran pro QB playing against college kids.

VT in 73 was a night game; I was there as well, age 14, and had the privilege of sitting behind Mr and Mrs Croom whose son (Sylvester) just happened to be playing center at the time.
the 4 backs to rush over a 100 - Willie Shelby, Calving Culliver, Wilbur Jackson, and Raph Stokes; I think.
Who scored the last TD for Bama?
Hint' it was a qb who did not have a # until they put athletic tape on his practice jersey. He went on and played professional baseball.

I remember getting upset with my Dad for leaving the game early (6 mins to go); we did not miss a point.

I was there also. It was a night game at Denny. You're right. That 73 wishbone team was a thing of beauty.
