I imagine the two members of our staff will be "encouraged" to resign immediately in exchange for a severance package...it may be the last football money they ever receive assuming the allegations are even remotely true.
They did. He worked from real estate into a ponzi scheme and got busted when he had to bankrupt. He then called on his "family," now in the NFL for help for bail money, etc. and got the cold shoulder. That's when he decided to start singing on them...
Kind of a shame really. I read the article hurriedly. I don't know what knowledge by the assistants was alleged, if any...

all it says specifically when you follow the link on the coaches names is that they were both involved with bringing a recruit, Matt P (cant remember the last name) to shapiro's house with his family and a few other U players including Robert Marve. Doesnt state any money changed hands so much as they were complicit in bringing at least one recruit and his family as well as players to the guys mansion.
A violation yes, but not exactly the worst of what is alleged here. After reading the link I cant really see how Pannuzio could keep his job. Stoutland will likely be gone as well, but who knows. UA could have known about this for a while and taken care of it on their end....but I doubt theyd bring these guys in knowing how deep the rabbit whole when at the U.

"Paid for a stripper to have sex with a player and then paid for the abortion when she got pregnant" tops every other NCAA violation I've ever heard.
I know the story is about Miami who we all love to hate, but guys like Shapiro really disgust me...

A note, take it for what it's worth...Stoutland was hired by Alabama in January 2011, and Pannunzio was hired in February 2011. It is normal protocol for universities and colleges to contact the NCAA to get an "all clear" on the candidate before a hire is consummated. Not saying this clears them from any wrong doing should Shapiro's claims prove trustworthy, but its worth noting.
Pretty serious violation, however strangely, not the worst of the stuff mentioned in the accusations. Essentially they both introduced a recruit and his family to the booster who was later handing out gifts by the barrel.
Probably enough for UA to have to release them both, because if the accusations hold up, they may be serving suspensions from the NCAA. When or if that will happen....who knows?
Cat, guys like Shapiro are classic jock sniffers. Look at him. He's small in stature and probably always wanted to be a player. So, what's the next best thing? Hanging out with the players.
Every school has them. They want the feeling of importance, not to the program as much, but to the athletes.
