WSU message boards are saying it was cancelled by the station and not Gregg Marshall. Station said the show was only on the tentative schedule and was never confirmed by the athletic department. It was never place on Coach Marshall's schedule (yeah right).

I think it is just a ploy to prevent heavy drinking the Wichita area this afternoon....
I just read that. Actually it is somewhat reasonable because they would not have known if WSU would still be alive in the NCAA tourney or not. If they win, they do the show, if they lose, then cancel. So I can see where this MAY be much ado about nothing.

I don't think this is the one. I could be wrong, but I'd expect them to fly to T-town not B'ham. He'll have a heroes welcome here I hope.
It's possible that Battle will pitch his offer to Marshall and then Marshall will have 24-48 hours to decide. My guess is that Battle will return without Marshall. From what I've read Marshall will make the decision with his family so that probably won't happen this afternoon.

That's the only flight from the state of Alabama showing up on any of the six Wichita airports.

I cannot believe I just typed that because that means I had to research it. I'm pitiful.

Again though, that's not responsive to the critique that he does a poor job of utilizing his teams' talent. When I called your earlier post odd, I meant that it was odd because the arguments you listed out -- which I think are good ones -- weren't really counterpoints to that underperformance critique; they were just defending Barnes's tenure on different grounds.
I can't expect anyone to follow everything I said, but I compared him to Wimp Sanderson. Same exact thing in my opinion, great recruiter, may be not a great coach (in terms of actual coaching abilities). My point was, that Wimp, and Barnes were respectively one of, if not the best coaches the programs ever had. Recruiting is part of it, you don't get extra brownie points for recruiting poorly and doing well with them, it's the overall results that matter.

Earlier I also underlines the three aspects of what coaches need to do, Barnes does two of them well, clearly. Marshall does two well clearly, Saban does three well (program build, recruit, coach). The part that I hope Alabama doesn't do, and what Texas did, was go oh Coach Barnes brought in great recruits, and has had great consistency, but for the recruits he recruited he hasn't done as well as we think he should. That's kind telling some guy well ok the business you founded has done great, you're rich and successful, but we think what you built isn't as good as it should be because you've been so successful you should actually be more successful. It's completely overlooking the fact that the individual is why they had success in the first place. It's a logical blind spot an arrogant Texas booster or what not is capable of.

My point is that Barnes is the best thing Texas basketball had going for them. May be they make a great hire, but they have to make a great hire to outdo their last coach.

Can we hold off on the Tejas and Rick Barnes talk in this thread until after Gregg Marshall has a press conference in Tuscaloosa?

FYI, The Crimson Tide Foundation plane is shielded from view on Flight Aware so they can move about freely without everyone on earth knowing where they are at any given time. N1UA I think.

It looks to me as if the new coach will have to make deep runs in the NCAA or be fired. Just getting there evidently is not enough. A lot of PRESSURE!

Why Gregg Marshall's radio show will not be heard in Wichita on Monday

As Alabama athletics director Bill Battle visits Gregg Marshall on Monday, every bit of information becomes news.

By the afternoon, radio programming schedules became a hot topic. KNSS-1340 ratio in Wichita tweeted the Gregg Marshall Radio Show, scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, would not be taking place.

Tony Duesing, the programming director at KNSS, told AL.com the decision came from Wichita State officials. He said no reason for the cancellation was given. The show was scheduled last week as the last show of the season.

The show appeared on the KNSS website's program listing Monday afternoon.

Wichita State radio play-by-play announcer Mike Kennedy on Twitter said there was a scheduling issue.

"To clarify, Gregg Marshall did not cancel his radio show for tonight," he tweeted. "It was tentative, and did not get placed on his schedule."

"Those of you speculating "deeper meaning" into this might want to know that there was no show scheduled last week either, worked it out late," Kennedy wrote in a follow up.

If they delay my flight here at BHM much more, I may be here to run over to the hanger and ask CBB myself when the flight returns.

Go start a Tejas and Rick Barnes thread?
Why? Most of the posts here are of little substance, but Texas has been one of the major topics, as has been the case in a couple Nick Saban threads as well. As far as I'm aware the position is still open is it not? This is not a Gregg Marshall thread, this is a coaching search thread.
