Nice Article on how to survive a CNO's MBB practice

Sounds like the stories of kids "making pizzas" during those early Saban 4th Quarter workouts.

It was amazing how slim Reese became after Oats arrived.
Met Reese a few years ago and we hit it off. He's doing great in the G-League this year. Averaging over 16 points a game and shooting it well from 3. He has a shot to stick around for awhile at 6'9.

I played to 62. I had double-double as recently as my 60th birthday, but by 62, I noticed my teammates were looking me off instead of looking for me, so it was time to quit...
I played full court, two times a week until my last knee surgery. The ole body just could not recover anymore.

I played with a group of former college athletes on Sunday evenings when I lived in Huntsville for a few years. It was highly competitive. Not one slouch on the court.

I was about 10 years older than most of them. I was in my early 40's and they were all late 20's to early/mid 30's. I was starting to have knee problems that severely limited me.

I went home from playing one night and told my wife I think my basketball days are over. She asked me why and I said, "They don't even feel the need to guard me anymore."

As a former 3 point sharp shooter that shot an arrow to my heart.

I just turned double nickels.

Yesterday my wife and I were out and I saw a bunch of young guys running (training for cross country) and I told my wife I'm officially to the point that when I see young folks doing things that I know they don't feel (as in hurt) I'm now officially jealous.

I'm about 5 months out from knee replacement surgery. I'm doing great with minimal pain, but my running/jumping days are over.

I have 30 years on you, but I know what you mean...

You would think golf would easier to play longer than basketball...and it is. But even it has an expiration date. Arthritis has set into my spine and I have to stretch for 45 minutes just to be able to turn and swing at a decent speed. I get jealous when I see college golfers swing fully with ease and at a high speed. Women golfers are especially good at this...I'm lucky to get the club ½ to ¾ of the way back...But still I try...I did walk 9 holes yesterday and played fairly well -- my standards are much lower now.

Yeah, golf has become my jam. Started playing in my early 20's, but it's really about the only sport (other than Cornhole - Is that a sport?) that I can do.

Luckily, my back tolerates a golf swing and now that I've got my left hip fixed I can rotate and get on my left side better!

But, I know playing golf (at least the level I can play now) is on the clock too.

Since moving to NC, I planning to start fishing more, assuming I can get into some waders! 😁
