“Obviously, for me, and for a lot of the ‘Bama fans, the disappointment is that Florida State dominated the line of scrimmage of both sides of the ball,” Saban said.

“But the good news is every team has the best opportunity to improve from Week 1 to Week 2. Because really, going into the season, you don’t really know what you have for sure as a coach. You’re always very anxious about what might happen in the first game.

“I’m sure they’re all disappointed – players, coaches alike. But they all do have a great chance to improve from Week 1 to Week 2. That’s when you make the biggest improvement.”

Improving on that performance shouldn’t pose much of a challenge.

It wasn’t just bad for Alabama; it was bad for anybody.

It's got to be hard to answer questions like that. I would imagine he wants to do what most of us do. And if not him, I bet you Ms Terry does lol

And; remember what Coach Saban said was the most embarrassing loss of his career?
None other than ULM.

He was absolutely right about being dominated at the line of scrimmage. Games are, indeed, won and lost in the trenches. And we appear to be weak on both sides. Keenan would have helped on defense, but not by much as a unit.

While I remain disgusted with all aspects of the performance last Saturday, I think it is a Saban quote to say that you are not as good as you think you are when you win, and not as bad as you look when you lose.

That was about as brutally honest as Saban is going to be without making it personal. Anyone worth their salt in the game of football doesn't take "getting dominated on both sides of the ball" lightly. We all know it would have been Hiroshima 2.0 if Saban was still at the helm when discussing the game but in his new position this is about the most you are going to get out of him, and honestly should be.

So if we go from a week one F to a week two C, that's a big improvement. But we still would be average.
True, but if we go week 2 to 3 and have a "B", then get better and focus in the off week, I see us being very competitive with UGA. Not sure if we can win that, but with weekly improvement, be competitive all game.

Coach Saban was as helpful as he could be, given that he is in a new position now. He gave a direct and clear opinion focused on the performance in the trenches.

Wouldn't we need to go from an "F" to an "A" to average out to a "C?"

I don't think we can expect a "miracle" game where everything looks "fixed" but if we can't look a lot better against ULM we are in deeper trouble than we thought!

Even if we win in a big way this Saturday, I don't think we will know how much we have improved until we play Wisconsin. If we were to lose against ULM then CKD is done.
