What's up with all these posts wanting alcohol sales in BD??????? This is something that is not needed at all for several reasons. First it would be expensive as hell. Second, it would lead to more incidents like fights breaking out in the stands etc..... I sure wouldnt want to see good Crimson folk get arrested for giving Aubies, Viles, Gaytors a good old fashioned country a$$ whipping. Third, I believe it would take away from the great tailgating atmosphere before the game.

Im not a tee-totaler and enjoy a cold brew(s) on gameday, but I would never support legal sale of any type of alcoholic beverage in BD ever :biga2:

Dont worry...

The NCAA prohibits alcohol sales at college sporting events. It is understandable that an organization designed to promote acedemics (cough, cough)...would be hesitant to condone or encourage drinking at games. Heck, theoretically, 3/4 of the student body would not even be able to legally purchase alcohol. You will not buy a drink at a regular season college game for a while.

Hmm...

TBH, I thought it was an SEC rule, as opposed to a NCAA rule, but I'll check on it and come back with an answer. As for LSU, they're outlaws, anyway...

I like my beer and scotch, too, but I agree that it shouldn't be sold in BD.

Some folks are bad enough as it is. Adding open access to alcohol during the game just adds too much chance for an embarrassing incident. Bama games should be for the whole family, and seeing more drunks (both ours and the opponents') than are already there isn't consistent with the image we want to project.

Can you imagine the situation when UT comes to town? There isn't enough security in Athens, Greece to take care of that crowd.

As for alcohol in other college games -- I've been to some bowl games where you could get it, some where you couldn't. I've been to one college regular season game where you could get a beer in the stadium -- Alabama vs. Tulane in the SuperDome in 1992. Regular season, college, non-SEC, in New Orleans. Don't know what the deciding factor in allowing it was, but I definitely had my share.

I Agree

While I have been known to get pretty trashed while tailgating, I never drink during the game. I am there to watch the game, I can,and do, drink before and after.I do not report the flask carriers as it does not bother me if people take a nip in the stands. I oppose selling it in the stadium. There are enough fights already. The rule prohibiting it is an S.E.C. rule. While humoring my wife at the Peach Bowl this past year, I endulged in several brews. Seeing UT take a beating was a blast!! ROLL Tide Roll!!

Litlbit...

Would you consider editing your signature so that the quote is from "Coach Paul Bryant," rather than "Bear Bryant?" I was at UA when Coach returned. One thing he made clear very early was that he hated that nickname. In fact, it was one way that you could tell who really knew him and who was pretending. No one ever called him that to his face, or, for that matter, anywhere...
