Remember when there was a threat of cancellation of an entire season 3 years ago? In retrospect, that was a lot less stressful than this
Fubo was going to charge me $90 today! Maybe I pressed the wrong button....lol....Fubo gave me a trial initially. (7 days) I only have fubo for the Braves games. it is not great. I preferred hulu or youtubetv. Both gave me a month for fee initially.
I have Direct Stream, but I got the Utah/Florida game last night and was also able to watch the SEC Channel last night to check out Mizzu.DTV is doing the same. Switch to YoutubeTV or at least get a 7 day free trial and you can watch all. the games this weekend. BTW, it is wonderful -- they have a multi-view option where you can watch 4 games at once...pretty good for CFB addicts like myself.
Yes, this has been common since the beginning of cable. What is not common, and changing, is the networks are asking for higher than the normal rate increases and cable providers are trying to get tougher. This is why Bally disappeared from almost all streaming service and Dish Network. There are fewer eyeballs these days so the networks need even more per subscriber to make up for the downfall. This is common for channels and providers. Most likely the contract has been up for weeks or months but they were "negotiating in good faith." It is too bad that talks broke down right before games really kicked off. The channels will claim that they only was $1 per subscriber more. That equals millions.
Also, they sort of pulled the same thing when thy wanted providers to pick up ESPNU. They waited until the last second to place a primetime game on the channel to force providers to pick it up.
not sure why it wanted to charge you.I googled and it said 7 day free trial. Honestly I don't like Fubo. I will cancel once baseball season ends and switch over to youtubetv or hulu.Fubo was going to charge me $90 today! Maybe I pressed the wrong button....lol....
Anyway.....got YT TV and so far I'm good......
Why do these contracts always renew in the fall? Football as a bargaining chip has to be the answer.
I don't think it really hurst the schools other than exposure. ESPN has to pay the SEC whether anyone watches the games or not.Doesn't this also hurt the schools whose games are being carried by ESPN?
It's not just Spectrum, it's just Spectrum right now because their contract is up for renewal. It happens to all of them depending on when the contracts are renewed (I think it is a 3-5 year cycle but, am not sure). I think Disney had a fight with YouTube TV last year or the year before. It's one reason why YTTV's price shot up over the last several years. It used to only be $35 a month and is now $72.If it's such a problem how did other providers work this out with Disney? Why is Spectrum the one that is hamstrung and hogtied on this deal?
I assume you mean a Fire TV stick, which is all you need. You can get all the apps on there including YTTV.My daughter gave me Fire tv for Christmas, but I have no idea how to use it. She hooked it up.
ESPN + on The hulu disney package does not carry the regular ESPN stations, you will need hulu live or YouTube TV etc.I've got Direct TV, but I have that Hulu/ESPN/Disney+ bundle too, I think I'm ok for the season. If not, I'll figure out a work around.
Listened to the Press Box this morning with Mike Grace....he said he was watching pregame, turned to Florida-Utah and got that Spectrum message. The fact that they cut it right before kickoff.....that's just a kick in the face.
Probably going to do this later today. 2 months will get me half way through the season. Thanks BazzaFubo is going to charge you from Day 1.
I just subscribed to You Tube TV and am enjoying a 2 month FREE trial. I already had a Google account so signup was fairly easy.
You will also need a streaming device to get this.
Watching SECN's "This Morning" right now......
