Notes from today's scrimmage/Gilberry and Coffee injured (notes being added)

Re: scrimmage notes?

Upchurch and Johns will split time at #2. Upchurch IMO will start next year. I like JJ, but Roy has played runningback his whole football career and is more natural. I sure hope Jamie is OK.

Re: scrimmage notes?

Not sure if we would want to play Grant if we don't have to. Right now we have a great backup in Jimmy Johns. Not sure what the status is for Upchurch...but if he's healthy...then he will see some playing time.

Grant is a beast though and I expect him to be a playmaker for Bama in the coming years.

Also...just heard that Grant scored his 2nd TD...53 yards.

RTR!!!

Grant just scored HIS second TD. another 50+ yarder? Can someone tell me if i understood that to be correct.

Re: scrimmage notes?

when asked about signing Terry Grant after already having Mike Ford inked shula replied that he had a plan for using both of them. Expect to see a shift on offense away from having that one workhorse back(Darby) to using multiple backs in different formations etc. Darby carried the load out of necessity but we have recruited well at RB and should start seeing more guys contribute.

Re: scrimmage notes?

Gilberry went out with an injured shoulder also. I don't know if I can take anymore of this news today. :conf3:

Re: Coffee and Gilberry injured

Sounds like Coffee's injury could be serious. They're saying he took quite a lick from Ramzee Robinson low to the ground...

I had a darn faculty meeting that I had forgotten about so I didn't get a chance to get out there......

anyways, we'll know more soon hopefully on the scrimmage and the status of Coffee and Gilberry.

I went home sick just to get on and see what I could find out about the scrimmage and now I'm really sick.
It's like groundhog day, every year we lose someone to injury.

All I can see are stills from CT inside BDS on the web cam.

Another board said that Money just had a cramp.

That lack of emphasis on Gilberry's injury in that article leads me to believe that it might not be as serious as Coffee's.

Let's not get too bent out of shape. Someone was bound to get injured because it happens to one extent or another to every school in every fall practice. I hope Coffee is ok, but even if he isn't we don't exactly have a depth problem at running back.

Personally I'm excited to hear about how well the offense is doing. I'm ready to kiss the anemic "O" of the end of last season goodbye.

I hope Coffee is going to alright, but even if he is out I'm not worried about or running game (I wasn't expecting him to play anyway- sports hernia). We have a water log of talent just waiting to explode onto the field at the Rb position.

KD is just going to go out and do what he does best- make plays.

JJ - A bull in a china shop come this season. Once he gets past the los I'd love to see a cornerback/saftey/even a lb try to stop him.

Roy Upchurch (if healthy) is a playmaker- with the right blend of speed, power, and quicks. He is a natural runner and could turn into a big play back.

In the case of a complete disaster- Ali and Grant could be decent rbs for us but would be limited by youth and inexperience. Let's not forget if worst comes to worst we could run the ball through two of the best fb's in college football- McClain and Castille.

I pray that Coffee is fine (along with all of the other injuries- Gilberry-Money) and will have a speedy recovery, but as for bama I'm not too worried.

I'll bet CJK is fit to be tied having his first string shredded by a fourth string back,,,,,,, any fourth string back!.

For some reason, I get the feeling we may be talking about Upchurch as the next guy to take a shot at the record books......or Grant from the sounds of his first scrimmage. 2 TDs of around 50 yards? Don't care what team D he was playing against.

They said on the radio the offense looked great for this early. I hope its not because of all the players we lost on defense. IM almost as excited as if it were a Saturday. Grant may be too good to redshirt.
