November 18 (week 4) CFP poll released

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

Im seeing a lot of MsState fans breathing a sigh of relief that they don't have to play in Atlanta, assuming we win out. Im thinking that will only hurt their chances sitting at home while division winners are playing games. None of them seem to think that Ohio State will get in if they win out. There will be some sad dogs if that is what they are hanging their hopes on.

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

Well, we still need to win out, but now I guess Ole Miss needs to win the Egg Bowl. Not sure I want to play State again. But then again, a few years back we beat Florida by 1 down in the swamp, but smacked them up and down in the SEC Championship game. Just win BAMA.

I don't want to see them again either, but like we got that second shot at LSU, MSU deserves a second shot if they finish well. They are a good team and it seems to me a pretty classy act.
It would be a helluva football game.

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

I have said for years that playing in the spotlight is just different than playing from the #2 and back spot. We have watched Oregon, Stanford, Ohio State, and others crumble under the weight of it previous years coming down the home stretch with a BCSNC game spot in hand. Now there are 4 teams in that spotlight instead of 2. There will be 1 or more losses among the top 6 over the next 3 weeks. Mark it down.

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

We've got a chance if you only have a week to prepare. You can't prepare for the kind of blitzkrieg speed attack that Oregon's offense brings in one week.

We could crush Oregon tomorrow afternoon. All the prep we would need is time to call all the players and make sure they knew gametime. Oregon couldn't beat either Mississippi team (IMO). Just Auburn with ugly uniforms and a good QB.

And the same can be said for Oregon.

Shall I remind you for the fifth time your high powered offense put up 17 points on one of the worst SEC champion defense in years with a month to prepare?

Injures will be the biggest factor in quick turnaround. Alabama for instance got really banged up against Ole Miss (which was a major factor in the loss and ironically a major factor in the games Ole Miss lost), and I'd argue that was a big part of their struggles against Arkansas. So, who knows really how important that would be?

Having said that, I'm not so sure that Alabama won't be very well prepared to deal with Oregon's offense provided they make it that far. If they beat Auburn, that will be another HUNH team that Alabama has beaten, and I don't think Oregon's offense would be as novel as it might have been in years past. The exception this year is playing a team that huddles up.

IMHO, we can match Oregons speed but they cannot match our physicality. If Oregon jumped out early, it would be a tough row to hoe for us....But if we could run on them early their defense would be a sieve in the 4th quarter.

The two Mississippi teams were overrated. It was proven on the field. Oregon could beat either one. Oregon was also the only team who gave the SEC their best shot in the NCG. Oregon is hungrier with more to prove. I hope the kind of arrogance and complacency in this post is shared by the players and the staff if our teams do meet up on the field.

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

Playing the Criminoles in the first round of the playoffs and Alabama in the championship is the best outcome imaginable.

For an Oregon fan I would think a national title is the best outcome possible.

Like Bama, Oregon has the # of national titles they've won on their helmet.

How in the world is Clemson still in the top 25. Kanell keeps saying that's FSU's top 25 win so see, they play a tough schedule. Mississippi State is BAMA's only top 25 win. They're not counting that Florida, A&M, and LSU were all top 25 when we played them. That they are not in the top 25 now is just the SEC beating each other up. Kanell is a tool. Krymsonman
I agree, if somebody beats us , guess what they beat #1, but when we fall, it's not mentioned. It's the perception of their strength when you beat them, their present rank that counts. Kanell's an idiot and bunch of the others are also. Quit listening to them a while ago.

How was MSU overrated? Because we beat them?

So does that mean every team Oregon beat was overrated? Ok...gotcha.

With only a week to prepare, I guess Bama would just have to settle for being more physically imposing in the trenches, control the game with twelve to fourteen play drives on offense, and slowly smothering the Ducks into submission. In other words, just playing Alabama football.

That's delusion right there. MSU would stomp a mudhole on Oregon. Oregon couldn't stop them from running and MSU's defense is better than any they have played this year. Sheesh.

I've heard this one before. The only response I have is that both their offense and their defense was good enough for them to go undefeated the entire season. So it couldn't have been all that bad.

You didn't play either of those teams. You have Just as many losses as Mississippi State. Was Oregon losing to Arizona Proof on the field that your team is overrated?

Your best shot still wasn't good enough was it?
