Since 2018 Alabama has had 23 offensive players drafted into the NFL

Since 2018 Notre Dame has had 16 offensive players drafted into the NFL

That's not really a huge difference. I mean, surely Alabama has better players but it's not nearly the gap that some think it is.
We have had 16 first and second round offensive players drafted since 2018 which is equal to how many totaled they have had drafted. Notre Dame has had 6 offensive first or second round picks in that time. 4 offensive lineman one blocking tight end and one receiver. So basically one guy that has their hands on the ball. We have had 8 receivers alone drafted in the first two rounds in that time span the talent and speed differences between the key offensive positions is enormous between the two schools.

Since you’re a film watcher, put in the film of Bama vs Notre Dame in the BCS championship game. The talent gap in that game was unbelievable and that team was undefeated. (ND). I’m for giving this guy a chance if he’s hired. Would love nothing more than him hanging 50 on Kelly and LSU next year. RTR

Most certainly. I've seen some folks out there saying we offered him less than 2 mill, though, which is utterly ridiculous.

If that's true... CNS didn't really want him.
I have a feeling that the top OC guys will ask and get $2,000,000 starting now.
I remember Ronald Reagan bankrupting Russia, because they played the game, till they run out of money. This could happen to some smaller Football programs.
WE REALLY DO LIVE IN INTERESTING TIMES...

I wasn't excited about a number of Saban's previous choices for offensive coordinator. All they did was to help us win national championships. So, if I am not excited about the next one then that may bode very well for Bama's success.

NOt sure why everyone is upset about ND OC. Kid had less Talents on the team to work with... I think he'll do justst fine with Bama if hired.

Key note: Saban is going on vacation tomorrow.... I think this could be finalized tonight or tmw.
"Saban going on vacation" - all-time oxymoron.

Rumor is, if this happens, one of the compensatory contractual obligations calls for Kiffin to bolster Gol*Miss *efense by naming Manti T'eo's girlfriend as Gol*ing's 1-4-6 diagramatician -

The Irish message boards have all but conceded that Rees is taking the Alabama job. Funny how it went from “we’ll match anything Bama offers” to “Rees wants to be an NFL OC or a HC one day. He won’t get there working for Marcus Freeman. He can get there working for Saban”.
Well, there is truth in that statement.

looks like we may be hiring Notre Dame's BoB
If the DC is right , we could win championships with Bob. We had leads very late in both games we lost last year. Makes for uncomfortable games, but as coach Stallings always said, the fun is in the winning.

Did I read on here somewhere that the BOT is fighting CNS regarding Pruitt?
I heard the same thing - also heard some powers at the Barn were fighting the Freeze hire.
Also heard Saban said JP wasn’t an option - supposedly said at some dinner in Mobile when he was attending and speaking at the AFCA (in Montgomery? Birmingham?)
No idea on the veracity of any of it; we know what happened with Freeze.
So as I posted a while back - we’ll know when he tellls us/hires someone.
Question; when was the last time Saban hired a coordinator (either OC or DC) directly from another schools’ coaching staff? Said person’s position at that school prior to hire irrelevant.

My guess would be Nussmeier back in 2012 on offense? Kiffin was out of work, Sark came from Falcons and BoB had been let go from the Texans. Pruitt was the DC at Georgia in 2015 with Richt but technically he wasn’t part of Kirby’s staff when Saban hired him. Kirby brought in Mel Tucker as DC.

I have it on pretty good authority from people close to the UGA program that Pruitt was “instrumental” in getting Richt pushed out in 2015 and was working diligently behind the scenes with key boosters get the job for himself. When they went with Kirby, Pruitt knew it was time to go.

So Pruitt is actually Fulmer in more ways than one, huh?

Yes, but what positions and what rounds - it matters A LOT.
Not really.

The argument isn't that Notre Dame has players as good as Alabama. It's that they have had pretty good talent, which they have. They've had more offensive players drafted in the past 5 years than Clemson! They've had the same number as Oklahoma!

Notre Dame NFL draft picks in the last 5 years by round:

1st - 2
2nd - 4
3rd - 3
4th - 2
5th - 1
6th - 2
7th - 2

Notre Dame has had a lot more talent than people seem to think. They're not Alabama, but they sure aren't chopped liver either.

I wonder how a Saban interview goes. Do they talk for a while about strategies? Does Saban ask the potential OC's about different game scenarios and how they would do certain plays and certain situations? Just a thought.
This would be cool to find out. I also think it would so exciting to even get an interview from Coach Saban.
