Official Alabama vs. Iowa Thread

Game over

72-60

Steele, Gee, Davidson, Hendrix scored almost all the points for Bama. Will need some outside shooting somewhere down the road.

Davidson 15 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks

Team not the same (what team would be) with Steele on the bench

The TV broadcast never posted (that I remember) players' point totals, fouls, etc. They would mention these things every now and then.

Box score isn't up on ESPN.com yet. I'd guess Steele led the scoring, but Gee had a number of jams on breaks and ally-oops. All 4 (Gee, Davidson, Hendrix, Steele) were in double figures.

I ache for Davidson right now... I couldn't imagine. I'm glad to see him back on the court being productive though. Sometimes falling into what you know best is the best therapy.

And yes... I'm jealous. I wanna be in the US V.I. :D
RTR!

It will be interesting to see how good of a team Iowa turns out to be. Bama was more athletic and played pretty good defense. Iowa looks to shoot the outside shot and will surely have some hot nights. Hopefully, they are a good team.

Tyler Smith (freshman originally committed to Tennessee) looked really good.

This was about as good an effort from the big four (Steele, Davidson, Hendrix, and Gee) that one could ask for. These four players combined for 68 of our 72 points, were 26-41 from the field, and shot 5-8 from beyond the arc. I think we can expect them to be a huge constant from game to game as far as scoring goes.

The bad news is that our bench, while getting quite a few minutes, didn't perform very well, especially offensively. Taking away the four above players, the rest of the team was 0-10 from the field, with the only points coming on four free throws courtesy of Brandon Hollinger and Demetrius Jemison. As bad as this seems, it excites me even more. If we can beat a team like Iowa with this lack of bench production, imagine what we could do with even a small contribution. If Riley, Hollinger, Jemison, and Torrance can knock down a few shots each game (which they can definitely do), then we will be an absolutely scary team.

I've never been as excited about an Alabama basketball team as I am about this one. Should be a GREAT season!

Roll Tide!

Box Score on ESPN
Gee-21 points, 6 rebounds
Steele-18, 6 assits (I thought it is was more assists)
Davidson-15, 11 rebounds
Hendrix-14, 7 rebounds

Hollinger-2 points and Jamison-2 points (all free throws).

Riley, Torrence ZERO. I know its early in the season, but Bama will need some scoring from these guys; they will have to get comfortable shooting on the road.
