Game Thread: **OFFICIAL**Alabama vs Tennessee POST-game thread

man that free shot we gave to UT at Greg was rough.. we have to shore up the line period. They did get some holes opened up though. Would loved to have held onto to some of those surefire interceptions..but who am I kidding I loved this wholeheartedly!! great win!!

It's no coincidence that our 2nd half dominance coincided with our decision to start running the ball more than once every series of downs.

Great second half. Glad to see us starting to click going into the bye week. Now we've got a week to rest and continue working out the kinks.

Ditto my friend, ditto........:)

When you consider how poorly we did in the redzone in the first half, and all the missed interception opportunities, we could really ran away with this one. More than we did already I mean.

Where has this downfield passing been the past several weeks? Finally! Maybe this will boost GMac's confidence in throwing the deep ball. One can hope at least. :)

plus we will see a whole new team after the bye week fellas we needed rest for injuries and just needed a break we have a schedule nobody expected us to still be in the top ten this far into the season. we still have 4 more tho

McElroy gets my game ball tonight. He took hit after hit and stayed in there and made the throws we needed.Always great to beat Tennessee. They will be back someday but I hope that day is along way off.

GMAC had a great game, but my game ball goes to the the guy who had 221 yards receiving after having a broken hand surgically repaired two weeks ago. Wow, talk about tough and focused.

General observations...
- With last night's all-4-quarters O-Line performance we lose to LSU and Auburn. It'll take more than just one half of high-octane performance to beat those teams.
- Very glad to see GMac getting rid of the ball quicker. Even so, the porous O-Line had him looking at lots of sky.
- GMac is tough! Played a great game even though he was getting planted right after releasing the ball.
- Finally we saw some deep balls! :cool2:
- Glad we saw persistance in the running game. (Deep balls helped this.)
- Bama appeared well-represented in Neyland. :biggrin2:
- JJ is very very good. (Stating the obvious...)

On a different note, near the end of the game I liked that we went for it on 4th and 6 deep in our own territory, and I liked the plain-vanilla play call. IMO this was a concession to Dooley and TN; give 'em the ball and see if they can get a feel-good score against our subs. (They couldn't!)

I'll always be happy with a butt kickin' of UcheaT but guys the OL problems and the overall lack of intensity our team seems to continue to show is concerning.

The bye week couldn't have come at a better time. I hope a lot of attitudes get fixed over the two week bye because if we want even a chance at beating LSU or AuBARN we've got to put it in another gear.

I agree. I am glad we won, but I am worried about this team. Week 8 and I still see little fire or desire from them. Most of the time we wlook like we are on auto pilot. After watching LSU and Auburn I think they are toss up games. You can add MSU in there too.

I was very happy the way we came out after halftime. We whiped them good and often. Great job by the O Line. We need the week off very, very bad. Bring on LSU and lets TCB down on the Bayou :BigA:

Yep, 30 minutes of great football won't be enough to beat any of those three teams.

totally different team in 2half. We need to get the o line fixed and play a FULL game the balance of the year or we lose to lsu and boogs.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the O-line looked a lot better after GMAC decided to let go of the ball on the streak routes. The run blocking miraculously got a lot better after JJ got the ball deep down the sideline; it's no miracle. Having the safety 25 yards downfield and outside the hash mark will make you look a lot more stout when run blocking, like when TR jaunted 70 yards to the EZ.

the vision tr showed on that run was amazing

I'm on the shuttle bus back to Gatlinburg...the blowout makes the trip so much more enjoyable and the trip back to Cleveland.

Random thoughts:

JUlio...wow.

Tennessee fans...ran mouths until half...at which time most around me left after the td.

I only like rammer hammer after ut and aub wins....it sounded great:D

I felt like the UT crowd's "cheer" right before the second half kickoff may have inspired our boys a bit. Reaaaaaally classy!

And there's nothing like Rammer Jammer echoing around Neyland Stadium to close a game!!

It's interesting that some of the UT fans saw it exactly the same way on their message boards...

Forgive me if this was already asked, but my friends and I were wondering if UT played Rocky Top at all the whole game. We never heard it it seems like; even when UT scored. Did the UT band not play it, or do my friends and I need to get our hearing checked?

We may be able to hold our own with LSU - and I know we should never look beyond the next game - but that young man at QB for Auburn has yet to run up against anybody who can stop him. I thought LSU might have a shot, with their defensive speed, but then I saw Newton outrun Patrick Peterson in a way that reminded me of Wilbur Jackson outrunning would-be tacklers from Tennessee in 1973, and I was shaking my head in awe.

Great win yesterday!!! Wasnt it nice to see Mark get some touches and 2 scores? I was beginning to question if he was healthy or not. I really enjoy watching the Viles get torched. I was complaining a lot in the first half also about our lack of running, and I still believe that running is our identity. The defenses are stacking the box to force us to throw, but hopefully Greg's confidence in the deep ball is back and it made all the difference to back them off some to open up our running game. Now let our D heal and get Upshaw, Nico, Marcel healthy again...we will see a different team. Congrats Bama!

I really believe that we can win out and be in the championship game again.

RTR!!
