Unfortunately, it also seems to be one that many Bama fans are developing. I truly believe that officiating would improve if they changed the way college football handles replay. It is horrible.
There is just too much money involved for it not to be done more like the NFL. Especially in the Power 5 conferences.

A self inflicted injury.
Saban said he’d had the issue before; since we don’t know what it is I can’t say if it was originally self inflicted. But yes, this time it was bad judgment.
But players always put themselves in harms way, more than normal, when they try to do too much. Learning to throw the ball away is obviously not a strong enough argument for personal survival to some uber-competitive athletes.

He isnt very subtle about it, although he doesnt come right out and say it.............all of his complements of Saban, etc. I think he wants it in the worst way. With Bama's resources, and a good defensive coordinator, there is no telling what he would do
He would win championships. But a lot of coaches would. Could he maintain the system Coach Saban has built?

No one is going to be able to, whether it is Kiffin, Sark, or anyone else. What Saban has been able to sustain is once in a generation type of thing. We need a coach that can continue the high level recruiting, and put us in a position to compete and have a chance to win titles and win a title within a 4/5 year window. But to expect ANYBODY to do the above (as Saban did) within a two to three year window over 15+ years is insane.

Well, he did learn from Saban the very system Saban created.............I think he could get close to it, but as the Buzzard stated, no one will ever be able to replicate it exactly....... But like all plans, even Saban's "process" can withstand updates and evolution as time goes by. Doing what Saban has done probably will never be replicated, but one never knows............we didnt think anyone would to what Coach Bryant did

I think I've mentioned it here before, but I know two people who are very "on the in" regarding all things Ole Miss football. They donate enough money where they get "a little better seats" than most of us and what they "hear" isn't from an ole miss message board if you get what I'm saying. A lot of people in Oxford, because apparently, Kiffin doesn't hide it well, fully expect him to bolt for Alabama if offered once Saban hangs it up.
I think the only thing that keeps Saban from retiring is winning out this year and making the playoffs next. If Bama loses again this year, I don’t think he stays if they don’t make the playoffs next year. If, as LK says, they lose one (or two) that aren’t close this year, this may be his last. But Bama has a penchant for winning most of its close games, so we’ll see. I think if he wins the NC next year he may be gone, that might be enough; but I think missing the playoffs two years in a row would do it. Unless they implement the 12 team scenario by then.
I think it’s LK’s job if he’s willing to wait it out, and I’m not sure there would be a better option; now I definitely don’t think there is.

And this is where, I wish we could rewind the tape to the Arkansas game and tell young Mr. Young this, "See these five yards you saved by throwing that ball away a bit too late and got yourself injured as a result? We don't need those five yards. We do need the hundreds, maybe thousands of yards we lost when you got hurt. Don't wait too long. Throw the ball away sooner and avoid that injury."
That one play impacted our entire season catastrophically....hindsight is 20/20.

The only thing separating Kiffin from not being a HC candidate after Saban is Kiffin himself, not a better defense, not better resources.

If he wants the job, he needs to do the other things to warrant consideration above just pandering to the fans, media, and Saban. He needs to chunk the go for it on every 4th down crap (he likely took 6pts off the board for his team yesterday), he needs to clean up his personal life (which is still an issue), and lay off the social media trolling.

If he would just do the work on himself he has all the coaching talent to be legendary in the right job. But to be given the best HC job in America, where the program and fans have been conditioned the no BS approach, then he needs to get rid of the BS.

I'm convinced the players have zero confidence and respect for what's being called and who's calling it. Their body language is telling me a lot, even through the tv screen. These players haven't "quit" they just know the coach being allowed to lead them on offense is a fraud. They are "playing slow" and very uninspired.
This is what I am seeing as well. They were playing slow and uninspired until Saban/Young got on their butt on the sideline, and the mood seem to change from there. Saban knows this is going to be an issue for next two games. Now that we wont the game last night, I gotta hope the mood change and things get little better by the time we play auburn.

Bama gave up twice it’s avg rushing yards, even though they held OM below their avg.
I think it’s safe to assume BY’s injury has led to the dearth of deep passes the last couple of games. You don’t stop throwing deep just because you don’t have a receiver with 10.3 speed.
If he hasn’t healed by now, he’s playing through it (a la AJ) and who knows, may need surgery after the season (I’ve never heard what the actual injury is but it’s obviously affecting his passing). This will not bode well against the Barn, especially if Bama can’t stop the run.
Not saying Bama should take Auburn lightly.... ever. But let's not overhype them. This is still a really bad auburn team that has been terrible on the road for like over a decade now. Unfortunately, we have been playing Down to the competition. Thank goodness this game is in Tuscaloosa.

Bryce was injured. It happens. He’s still our best option at whatever percentage he’s currently playing. He’s playing right now with diminished dynamic due the mental and physical limitations of that injury. Without that “diminished” dynamic I’m convinced we’d have lost last night. Asking a competitor to change his play for fear of injury also reduces his performance and effectiveness.

Yeah, the general consensus is CLK covets the Tide HC job but let’s hold the contract on that please. Chapter 4 (2010) in this book read pretty similar to this chapter but chapters 5 on were so good we’ve kinda entered a mourning period now thinking maybe the “dynasty” is on life support and we’re wondering if the next of kin is gonna walk in and pull the plug.

Look, I’m not happy with this season. Im not happy with last season. I’m spoiled by the domination we’ve enjoyed. I still want it. Who wouldn’t? I’ll continue to watch, complain, question, cuss, yell, frustrate and pace the floor. Whatever happens at the end this season, and I think changes are coming, I’ll regroup, watch and support The Tide. It’s hard to do at times but I will.

Total agreement...except that its not ever as hard as it was immediately preceding CNS!!!
