Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama @ USCe...

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I have finally settled down enough to type something.
I get that the offense didn't have a good game.
There were times under CNS where the offense was less that stellar (South Carolina at home where Mark Ingraham had to take over the game for a win) and we found ways to win just like we did today.
We just went through the hardest stretch that any team will have gone through in this season.
As others have said, we don't win this game last season.
These guys found a way.
These guys have heart.
We definitely need this bye week.
Let's get rested up for the home stretch.
Roll Tide.

So glad we didn’t have to attempt the game winning field goal. The way most of that game went I didn’t have a good feeling about a kick.
I was concerned that too much time was left on the clock when Germ scored. I immediately thought back to the TD he scored last year vs USCe late in the 4th to go up 8 and the near disaster that followed, but it’s a good thing he scored that TD tonight in hindsight. The ensuing squib kick was the most brilliantly executed I’ve ever seen!

Roll Tide Roll !!!!! I'm exhausted but so proud of those boys !!!! I won't lie ..... I thought it was over ..... never give up before the fat lady sings and she gave us an OPERA !!!!!!

I have to hand it to Coach Beamer for setting us up for the win as well. I hate it when coaches go for 2 after a touchdown in the third quarter or early fourth quarter. So many times that lost point becomes a game changer, just like it did today. It would have meant that SC was going to be ahead but instead we scored the touchdown to tie the game. The game would have been 23-22, and SC just had to run the ball up the middle and maybe punt, instead of getting the ball stripped and setting us up for the game winning score.

seeing the disappointment and failure on his face when we took the ball from his superman was priceless

If they had kicked the extra point they'd have been up 23-21 because we wouldn't have gone for 2 after scoring that TD. Theory of what they'd do with that lead still applies though.

This is why I hate the media - this was written as if Bama had NOTHING to do with the result, it was all USC's failure:
"Every loss for a South Carolina program that began the season ranked No. 13 has been painful. But Saturday's 29-22 loss against No. 4 Alabama was worse than painful. It was agonizing. The Gamecocks (3-5, 1-5) took a 22-14 lead with 10 minutes remaining. But after forcing three consecutive three-and-outs in the third quarter, South Carolina's defense folded with the game on the line. The Gamecocks' offense also did its part in the collapse with a fumble at the 1:39 mark that gifted Alabama excellent field position for its go-ahead score."

This is why the AP poll is meaningless. Screw these pencil-necked writers who have never pulled the helmet on and played the game...

just went back and watched the last 9 1/2 minutes of the game. that was some impressive football.

also saw on the 2 point play, cuevas was wide open and ryan would have walked in if he'd have gotten the ball. there was no defender in that half of the field. grubb had them completely flummoxed with that play call
There was some impressive playcalling at the end of the game.

Yes, it was a struggle win, but when it counted and had to be done, both the offense and defense stepped up. The offense tied it up, then the defense forced the fumble that gave us the ball back. And that was a "forced" fumble as they physically ripped the ball out. Congrats on finding a way to win!! This off-week will be a whole lot sweeter now.
