With the right coach, USCe could be a contender. They get enough talent to beat anybody. They need a culture changer type of coach.

Seeing that replay, it looks like that was a deliberate attempt to push our player into the ball. Can’t believe the refs let them get away with that. I wonder if it is a reviewable type of play? I don’t see why not since they can review whether a player touched the ball.

The refs didn’t call anything. Go back and look at the threads from the game to see how many times we questioned whether a play was PI. Their OL was throwing, pulling, and grabbing our jerseys right in front of line and back judges (no calls). It was a travesty of a game for this referee crew

Spurrier did a pretty good job with them, and actually DID win the east one time (and then they got boat raced in the title game, I think it was 2011 vs LSU).

If it matters to recruits these days, Carolina has a facilities problem. (1) it’s in the middle of the capital city so it’s hard for them to expand and put up new buildings like they do in Tuscaloosa. (2) basically everything they have, at least last time I checked, is from the 80s. It’s like if every facility was on the level of Coleman Colosseum. I think the head coach’s office is still in a cramped little room in the stadium. The stadium hasn’t been updated in forever. Probably around the same time they added the second sideline upper deck at Bryant-Denny. I’d say that Carolina’s best facility is the baseball stadium.

There are actually two issues here: 1. It is a foul for an illegal block in the back. 2. The receiving team player being block is considered “passive” since he is not actively engaged with the kicking team player. That block forces him into the ball. Since he is considered “passive”, he is deemed *not* to have touched the ball. Assuming no one else from the receiving team touched the before the kickers, the ball should belong to the receiving team at the spot of the kicking team recovery.

I thought the review was going to award the ball to Bama when I was watching the game. I was surprised that it remained USC's.

In a weird sort of way that might be my favorite win so far, although it's hard to beat last week's win.

I think this is proof we've turned a corner. Would 2024 Bama win this? I don't think so.

This was always going to be a tough game. We were coming into this game off the back of a record-breaking stretch of 4 games. We were coming into a tough environment, against a QB that can be a real wildcard, against a team that is looking to get a big win to try and save a poor season. This was a National Championship for South Carolina in a lot of ways. It's tough to share the same level of motivation they have.

I think we played a lot better than people gave credit for. The defense was outstanding today considering the offensive struggles. Such a great group of players that are only getting better. Offensively? Well it's tough. The run game is not good. It's that simple and it's a big problem. Hopefully the bye week gives us time to figure it out because it's only putting more and more pressure on the passing game. We're pretty much living and dying by the passing game. Grubb had some great play calls.

Wasn't pretty, but those are the games great teams win.

2024 Bama loses this game 28-6. Actually you know what, I’ll throw Milroe a bone and say he breaks a long run for a TD, so 28-13. He obviously couldn’t throw himself a bone because…you know…he sucks.

Yeah the fairgrounds aspect of it just is very off putting. It’s like going to a bowl game where it’s just a carnival parking lot around the stadium. It’s more of a “fine” experience.

Stadium wise for attending true bama away games (keep in mind there are 4 SEC stadiums i haven’t been to)

1. Kyle Field (aTm) it’s BDS but 10x better
2. Tiger Stadium (LSU). Best atmosphere in and out of the stadium in college football
3. Camp Randall (Wisconsin). Rich tradition, good stadium, and just good overall experience
4. Davis Wade (MSU): as crazy as it sounds it’s a pretty cool stadium minus the cowbells
5) Kroger (UK). Best parking in the SEC bar none, great stadium, but weird atmosphere
6) Jordan Hare (Auburn): I will never go back for an iron bowl but I have to give it to Auburn… they can create one of the most hostile environments in college football with a traditional 8-4 team. They also have the prettiest grass in the SEC
7) Farout Field (Mizzou): it’s nice for what it is and there is a lot to see outside the stadium. Plus people are super nice.
8) Williams Brice: really have discussed it
9) Ben Hill (Florida). Unpopular opinion but I was totally let down by the swamp. It’s a very old feeling stadium and I hate where they put visitors (they share a section with the Florida student section)
10) DKR (Texas). It looks nice on TV but good god it’s a horrible experience. Do not recommend
11) neyland (Tennessee). Stadium is a DUMP but it’s a gorgeous drive and outside the stadium is nice.
12) Vaught Hemingway (Ole Miss)- stadium is like a high school stadium and the Grove is criminally overrated.

Stark-vegas is criminally underrated. Didn't care for the LONG WALK to the stadium from where we parked (I attended with a then current mature student), but even with the cowbells it's a really good setup. I was there in 1998 before they expanded it, and it was like a low rent high school stadium.

The Grove - I'm sorry, I just don't get it. Parking was horrendous, walk was horrendous, and the Grove itself was criminally overrated.

Harvard Stadium - the thrill is in "wow, the Kennedy brothers and Tommy Lee Jones played on this field." It's an old Roman throwback but you sit on cold, hard concrete that is very uncomfortable, especially as you get older.

DKR - I was at the 2022 Texas game and thought, "This is the most overrated pile of crap I've ever seen." And that didn't even include the fact it was like attending a game in a sauna with 90K people. I spent half the game wondering how many fans Kurt Russell Charles Whitman could hit from that observation deck.

The 2010 USCe was one of the 5 games I actually watched that year of Alabama. The others were (Florida, Arkansas, LSU, and Michigan State). I was deployed and AFN is very much “big game only” television. What I remember the most was us getting dominated by them (USCe)running the ball and an obnoxious Gamecock fan watching the game with us. I think the “Stephen Garcia” effect is overstated and people keep forgetting that Lattimore was unstoppable that day and Jeffrey was catching everything and running. I just think it was a lot like yesterday in which Alabama came in off of a string of tough games and ran into a buzz saw.

Starkville… I was there for the 2017 game and might go to the Egg bowl this year. My only real gripe was parking. I parked on the Greek quad and it took 4 hrs to get out of a dang parking lot. Starkville for baseball is heaven. Easy parking, no cowbells, and the best baseball venue in the country.They also have one of the cleanest campuses as well.

Ole Miss might be the worst setup in the SEC. Everything is on that square and it’s impossible to get there without parking 10 miles away or forking over a fortune to park in someone’s tailgate or an expensive parking lot. The Grove is just a worse and more cramped Quad. I get the feeling that they just show the more out there antebellum setups on tv because I really never saw that much when I went. LSU tailgates 100x better than Ole Miss.

Game A: Simpson goes 23/43 for 254 yards and 2 TDs.
Game B: Simpson goes 24/43 for 253 yards and 2 TDs.
I legitimately had to do a double take on that one.

Game A: 87 yards rushing for 3 YPC and 0 TDs
Game B: 71 yards rushing for 3.1 YPC and 1 TD.

Team A: 3-4 (loss)
Team B: 3-5 (win)

The similarities are astounding to me.

So what are the takeaways? Well to me the biggest thing is just how the team finished. It isn't as though the stats look better (South Carolina does allow 3 points less per game than FSU but the difference is negligible). I think you can argue though that bad luck was a bigger factor in this game though. Alabama could have folded up shop like they did against FSU but they didn't. They kept fighting, gave themselves a chance and they won. That's the difference between the two games.

What I'm hoping for though, the next evolution of the team is to just improve the weak spots in the offense. If they can figure out how to take some pressure off of Ty and be more reliable on the ground I think either of those games look very different (in a good way). They improved from the FSU game though, if nothing else in mental toughness so I'm hoping for continued improvement.

Yeah, I can live with the holding penalties that aren't called - even though they did give us a couple of them - since they've kind of forgotten how to call that penalty. But there were at least 3 times where there was obvious PI that wasn't called. That one late in the game where the SC guy never looked back and basically ran over our guy was the worst. And the ref was right there looking at it.

And Matt is now the rules "expert". When he agreed that Sellers did fumble the ball, I thought for sure it would be overturned. Many times Matt's view is not what the replay guys see. I'm glad he got it right.

I’m still shocked they reviewed the Ryan Williams catch in the Tennessee game. It was clear his arm was under the ball, and the ball never touched the ground. Stupid Matt Austin was like “Yeah guys this is gonna be overturned. The ball clearly hits the ground”. It just drives me crazy how people can see stuff that simply isn’t there.
