Well. Hmmm. I am at a loss for words. I never would have thought that that a Nick Saban team would play as poorly and undisciplined as we have since Clemson last year. Some of our guys played their hearts out and some of them played like they were not on the same page.

That loss to Clemson supposed to be good for us. It was supposed to make us hungry. Now we will hear the same thing this spring. All that talent. 4 of 5 number one recruiting classes and this is what we were forced to watch? Keystone Kops? Pitiful.

The late motion penalties were disappointing, but come on: Our OL dominated Auburn’s supposed steel curtain for most of the game. We had 180 yards on the ground and MAC had time and lanes to throw. We dominated their defense and still didn’t win.
And that’s because when we had Auburn staggering in the corner at various points throughout the game, we let them slip away and stick around.

I have watched specific different O lineman all year and we are average at best. We do not sustain blocks, we are slow getting to blocks, and of course the many penalties all year. Some of it is coaching, which needs to be fixed.

Mac played well. He shot the pooch on that endzone interception. Neiuhesiel is a jerk. Of course he is a west coast homey. You would think Darth Vader had been slain.
I will say this for Neiuhesiel - he's much more balanced, logical, and sane daily on SiriusXM radio than he is on TV.

Of course, that just makes him a shill, so...

We need to replace a couple of coaches. We will probably have a lot of freshman play next year. Mac did a good job. We need four new O linemen but with this performance, they will not go pro. Penalties and not holding their blocks have hurt us all year. We have a lot of work to do to get back where we were. We need more SPEED.

I agree. That's a good summation. We lack speed on defense. The young guys will have experience next year but they won't magically become faster. It also seems to me there is no "fire" in the guts on this defense. My opinion is in the minority but I saw little improvement in the D through the year.

I don't know what to do to improve the penalties on both sides of the ball.
I'm lost on the kicking too.

I'm heartbroken, just heartbroken. Anyone got a cure besides a win that we didn't get? :(

I think part of the problem is that on the defensive side of the ball is that we have guys that just don’t play the game “between their ears”. The guys that could (McMillon, Mosley, Ray, etc) went out early. It was like time and time again the team could get lined up defensively. The Barn two point conversion NO ONE shifted over into coverage. Inexcusable!

I could excuse Lee and Harris early in the year, but when your filling the wrong gap consistently on runs and allowing RB’s to spring long runs, you need to work on your gray matter. And Benton and Kaho, guys with more experience and maturity doing the same...that is coaching.
Yeah, 29 was in for 15 on that play and he didn't know what he was doing. If he would have shifted over when the others were telling him to he would have been right where the ball was thrown.

Please not them!
They'd go around locking up the wrong guys!
Then injuries wouldn't be our only problem...!
