It's crazy to look at the stats of the game and we dominated in nearly every category. It's amazing to think that even though they had two pick 6s, the refs gave AU 3 at the half that we even had a shot to win the game. I've said it ALL year long - there are three facets to football - offense, defense and special teams - it doesn't matter that our offense can score 40+ points/game. Special teams and defense are so mediocre that it doesn't really matter how prolific our offense is. I've also said all year that our kicking game would cost us and it came home to roost at the most inopportune time. I've never seen kickers that can hit so many uprights as ours. It's scary how many times it happens... could be a rich man to make that prop bet in Vegas.

Well, as many have stated, there are changes that need to be made. I dont think its necessarily coach bashing to say they need to change the way they coach and recruit.........i just want to see discipline brought back to the standard that we have seen in the past........and if that means changing personnel, then do what must be done.....mm

The dynasty died against Clemson

It was buried against LSU

Tonight the corpse was exhumed and desecrated.

The program needs more than a tweak here or there. It needs an overhaul (again). I don’t have faith that that’ll get done. Bama will be a top 5 program for the next few years but it is not feared and hasn’t been for a while. The team is undisciplined and sloppy. When is the last time the team showed up for a big game and looked focused for 60 minutes against a team with a pulse?

No coach bashing?” Ok. This has really surprised me tonight. Some may need to go back and read the LSU threads. We were hit with a perfect storm of injuries, a horrible kicking game, and awful luck this year. I find it funny how some “experts” here want to say the game has passed the 3-4 by lol. We weren’t in that more than 3 or 4 plays tonight. Where are the enforcers tonight?
For the record, a screenshot from the FAQ:

We're here, and if we see something that violates the rules here we will enforce them.

Not piling on CNS but that is all on him. He's said he doesn't want to run up scores because the players on the other team have moms and dads too. Ironically, that reasoning doesn't really seem to fit his personality that well IMO.
I dont believe Mac getting more chances to throw in full offense in blowouts would have made much difference this game.
Though I agree with the sentiment 100% that he should have got that opportunity.
Most of our penalties today were becos their defense was so good.
Not able to punch the ball in red zone like in clemson game haunted Bama

Seriously, I wasn't going to get the pitchforks and torches for the defensive staff component v. LSU because that offense is one of the 2 best in the nation (in my opinion THE best).

This is embarrassing and unforgivable. Auburn was not a good offense. When we torch their defense like that we ought to win by 17+ and would've even with two pick sixes with any sort of defensive resistance whatsoever.

I may be wrong but I think Saban needs to recruit some strong safety body types for linebacker. We need help on the DL. Next year's team is going to be very young.
We have been they just cannot stay healthy. Lee is an OLB. Id be putting feelers out in the JUCO and Transfer portal for a legit ILB. We cannot keep running greens out there. It is too important a cog in Saban's system.

Why we're always caught flat-footed by these cheap penny-ante stunts at Jordan-Hare, literally the ONLY place in the known universe where Gus can get away with it, is beyond my understanding. What the heck are all those analysts for if not to diagnose and predict this kind of crap?
That last part...is what Gus is all about AND he pulls it off to boot. Makes me sick!

Okay, I have a question on this. We sent in our punt return team, then Auburn pulled their gimmick. They subbed so we were allowed to sub and sent the defense back out. Of course Waddle is way down the field and may not even know what is going on, so we end up with 12 on the field. I don't remember for sure, but does the ball have to be snapped to create the penalty, or if you have 12 out there, do you get called. How does it work.

Saban is now 8-5 against Auburn, Coach Bryant was 19-6. Despite being more successful nationally than CPB, Saban hasn't been able to keep a lid on the Cow College.

Very well said and a real inconvenient truth that when brought up on here is poo-poo’ed and swept under the rug by all the flag-wavers and apologists. 6-4 against Auburn during this amazing run? You could have knocked me over with a feather when I read that for the first time tonight. I’ll die an Alabama fan no matter what, but that stat alone will always stick in my craw.

We have tried. We are just losing recruiting battles. One that we really wanted last year went to Georgia. Two that we really want this year are going to LSU and Clemson respectively. We have what I feel is a pretty good LB class already in tow though. But again, it's all about development. Rashaan Evans came here as a skinny outside speed rusher, and out of necessity wound up being able to play the MLB position and is now a (very highly productive) starting ILB in the NFL. That's coaching and development. Definitely have to get some more of that going on again.

I’m agreeing with Jess in that unless the change starts with how Alabama recruits and coaches discipline then this season is the rule and not the exception.

Tua masked two horrible defenses, and in the end it wasn’t enough. Our defense is probably not getting better next year, and our offense will probably take a step back as well. But our talent will win 10-11 games. But if our defense and discipline doesn’t substantially improve then we are likely in the same situation we are now next year.
I am beginning think talent and recruiting stars are overrated. Would we be better off with 3-4 star recruits who want to play for Alabama than just using us as a stepping stone to the NFL?

How does it work.
"An incoming legal substitute must enter the field of play directly from his team area, and a substitute, player or departing player must depart at the sideline nearest his team area and proceed to his team area. A departing player must immediately leave the field of play, including the end zones. A departing player who leaves the huddle or his position within three seconds, after a substitute becomes a player, is considered to have left immediately.

Substitutes who become players (Rule 2-27-9) must remain in the game for at least one play and replaced players must remain out of the game for at least one play, except during the interval between periods, after a score, or when a timeout is charged to a team or to the referee with the exception of a live ball out of bounds or an incomplete forward pass (A.R. 3-5-2:III and VII)"

Bama had 12 on the field with no one departing.

How did we let To’o (I think that’s it) get to Tennessee?

Basically go back to Mike Shula talent? CNS went 7-6 with that in 2007. Remember?
