Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. Hogs....

Arkansas would be stupid to can Pittman. That said, it certainly doesn’t mean they won’t.

And I would take Sam as an Oline coach in a heartbeat. I could be wrong but I think Saban may have made a run at him in the past when our Oline coaching position was open.
He did and I think that's when Pittman took the Arkansas job, I believe coach said yesterday he knew it would be a tough game because of Coach Pittman being a former lineman and oline coach

He lacks the basic fundamental throwing motion to get the ball out and make short accurate catchable throws. Round peg in a square hole.
And yet there ARE things Milroe can do to have a greater opportunity for success. I believe it has been beaten into his brain to “stay in the pocket and extend the play” to the point he now has lost his ability to make the plays his athleticism would normally allow him to make.

There were multiple times the past couple of weeks where the play was to be made with his feet and not his arm. And he hesitated ….and the opportunity was lost.

It appears that UT is in a similar situation with Milton. He struggles with trying to balance “patience in pocket” versus taking the easy yardage by running. He is still more advanced though in my opinion in the short to intermediate passing game.

I will agree with what Danielson said yesterday concerning Milton when they went to a few read options for him saying “that was something Tennessee needed to do more with him”. And I think that holds true for Milroe with us.

Now I know I’ll have folks say “well that’s not Rees/CNS/Alabama’s offense”. Well it is obvious that “whomever’s offense” it is, it is having difficulty with consistency and sustaining drives. Well if “necessity is the mother of invention, then at some point desperation becomes the father”. If we are going to have any shot at making it to Atlanta, something has to change.

Milroes speed is the one aspect where he is better than the other choices i think...but we havent seen that used consistently...maybe its to protect against injury? But thats his game..dual threat..i think TS would be a better passer but has almost no experience...a consistent issue..our backups have little game time. So we have what we have this season.

And TS is not going to get any playing time unless Jalen gets hurt. That’s been the pattern for years now.

All of the attention in this threads are focused on QB play but no one is really addressing the major issues that caused Arkansas to almost win the game: The defense collapse late in the game.

I feel like the offense bears a great deal of responsibility for that. You cannot go three and out repeatedly and expose your defense to more and more plays. Eventually the opposing offense is going to make something work. Busted play. Penalty because your defense is tired and makes a mistake.

Our defense is so improved. But they are not the 1992 unit. They’re not going to win single handedly.

I don’t get the catastrophizing negativity of some posters.

Any objective observer realized after the TX game that this team was flawed and that IF we have a chance of getting to Atlanta and beyond it would involve a lot of struggles and nail -biting games.

We are 6-1 and control our destiny.

With a team like this one, that’s all we can really hope for.

Just keep winning…even if it’s ugly and nerve-wracking.

Just keep winning Bama!

Maybe it's because we don't like settling for mediocre.....

Listening on a podcast to Clint Lamb wondering why the offense isn't taking better advantage of JM's speed. He's wondering if maybe JM is nursing a minor injury that's keeping them from calling more designed QB runs.

i noticed that he seemed gimpy/tight during the texas a and m game and was wondering then if he had something going on. he's gotten up a bit slow a few times in the last few weeks

I certainly hope you're right, but if I were a gambling man (I'm not) I'd take that bet...
To be fair, our defense was horrible last year, and we still only gave up 32 to them. This year, we have the top defense in the SEC. They have a good offense, so they'll score some points, but I figure they'll cap out around 17 or so
