Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread Bama vs. LSU...

False statement. Auburn does not have the best defense in the country. Google it!

Google an opinion? There’s no definitive answer to the question. “Best” is subjective. I think if you watch the games you should agree AU has the best defense. Considering how poorly their offense plays at times it’s very, very good. They constantly bail out their offense. They held LSU to 23.

Agreed. I've been impressed with Sarks play calling, but I really wonder why we don't take as many down field shots with Tua tossing the pigskin.

This would have been the game to take more shots...just to loosen them up a bit.
I agree...………..I would have tried to get on the backside of the defense early

Ironically it was a grad transfer and a senior that made freshmen mistakes that most likely cost the game. Without the unsportsmanlike conduct and twelve men penalty this could’ve been a different game.

I fear we’ve become Rocky when Mr.T cleans his clock: there was no urgency, no crispness, and no hunger. The last two teams focused on revenge have gotten it.

Hats off to LSU for a great game plan and execution.

It seems crazy to say this but given the CFP's history and what I see as the realistic options on the table:

Alabama has better than a coin flip chance of making the CFP if they just finish the regular season 11-1.

It isn't a cinch but I think the possibility of a direct comparison of Alabama to Oregon would loom large in that scenario.

I agree 100%... as long as UGA drops another game. To auburn, a&m, LSU - I don’t care. But UGA needs to lose. OR... we need to destroy auburn more than UGA does. But if UGA wins out and in convincing fashion, I think we’re first team out, with OSU, UGA, Clemson, and LSU making the cut.

Two short fields. One bogus TD. One fumble inside the 10. Penalty on the Int. And yet we kept it more than respectable. I saw kids hustling. Lack of experience is forgivable. LSU is riding a wave. But it won’t last. I believe that. For no other reason than it’s LSU.

Coach O really plays up the emotional side. It’s working right now because the offensive transition by them still has everyone scrambling against them. But the emotional wave will crest at some point and they’ll begin to fall.

Sometimes I wished we weren’t so even keel... I think it hurts us in games like this one. But over the long run, it works out most of the time.

I appreciate your point; it really depends on the context, and it's why I said "overall" team. Our defense is such a huge liability right now, and it's so soft against the run facing top competition, plus the poor tackling and overall lack of toughness.... I just don't see us passing the test for the committee with the other options available by the end of the year if things hold serve. If they somehow do, great, but this shouldn't be a "playoffs or bust" expectation going forward. That was my main point.

That’s just it. When has it ever happened that all teams “hold serve”? Watch OU right now! Iowa St is giving them a serious shot tonight. So much can still happen. Be where your feet are should be the approach going forward.

Wish CNS had called the defensive calls! Wish Pruitt was still here,

So we could give up another 34 with some of the best defensive personnel in college football history in the biggest game of the year? Or 40 to OM? In this game the O and special teams gave them 10 points, the refs another 4, assuming a FG rather than the TD they got.

CNS has enough control of the defense. The college football world has changed - the 2011 D played almost no one with an offensive pulse. They might give up 46 today with better and more experienced personnel than this Bama team. They played dinosaur offenses with their own dinosaur offense which ate up the clock. Those offenses would lose today. 2011 and 2019 are two different worlds.

The poor tackling all year is something that baffles me...………..I hope it's fixed

They wouldn’t just lose they’d be annihilated.

Thanks! I think we, as a fan base, are pretty spoiled and don't handle losses well at all.

Not that we want to get use to them, but we need to have more class at times like this!

It’s amazing what short memories the eeyores have.

We were in this exact same situation in 2011 when only 2 spots were available.

Now there are 4 and unexpected chaos ALWAYS happens.
