I had the same thought near the end of the game. Passing games are great for running up scores, when they're working. However, there comes a time when you need to run the clock. You just can't do that with a primarily passing game. Late in the game, when you're ahead, the other team knows damned well that you're not going to throw long and risk a pick six, so they crowd the box and blitz you to death.
