Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama vs. UGA...

I was fine with the BCS, never liked the four team playoff as I knew it would lead to this, and the reality is most years anyone ranked third had no real claim to being 'the best'.

But they had to NFL college football, so here we are. Lots of mediocre teams fighting over scraps.
I felt like outside the top 5 you really didnt have a claim to get in. CFB aint like NCAAM where you can have cinderella teams make deep runs in the tournament. The raw talent is so top heavy in CFB its just an insurmountable hill to climb. Which is to say, a 12 team playoff is too many.

Then again Ohio state won it all as a 8th seed so what do i know?

Everyone needs to relax. Coach Deboar is the man to lead this program. We just signed another great class. We are decimated by injuries and the score today is not indicative of how we played. Block put, short field, interception, short field, punt return, short field, failed 4th down, short field. Defense played good enough to win. Eliminate some mistakes totally different game. There is no way we should be left out of playoffs and if we get in, I can see us playing a couple more weeks.

That 4th and 2 call......that should be a fireable offense right there.

If it was Grubb's call....fire him.
If it was Ty switching to that call....bench him.

It was 4th and 2.
The DECISION to go for it was worse...knowing that there was a perception issue from a blow out...it gifted them points and now its a 3 TD loss....vs a 2 TD loss....

without our star players, the offense looked inept. Ty needs to call it a day. he can't see the field and is lacking awareness and is slow as heck today. defense kept us in as long as they could. Georgia 3 tds all came from short field and 2 big costly miscues. play calling by Grubb was embarrassing and Oline should walk home. I hope Grubb does not return; the man is too stubborn to adjust.
If Grubb refuses to adjust, who's fault is that?

As diplomatically as I can put it.

Tip of the hat to the defense. They played well and were put in a tough spot all game due to ineptitude on offense.

Ty is playing hurt. It's concerning that we don't have the dedication to a running game to take pressure off of him.

Wish, as an offense, we handled the blitz better (recognition, adjustments, pickup, the whole shebang). Right now, that's the recipe to get us off the field on 3rd down. Just send some pressure. We haven't consistently executed well in that situation the past 4-5 weeks.

"Kalen DeBoer said LT Overton not being part of the punt unit led to a replacement player not making a check that led to a punt block."

I wouldn't have said this into a live mic.
TO ME, this kind of screams, "My special teams coordinator didn't properly prepare the replacement".
And that Kirby & co DID prepare for exploiting his replacement when they saw him on the OUT list

Likely won't happen but you know what likely will? When the CFP contract comes up for renewal the big stick will be swung.

Honestly, if the committee punishes Bama for losing the SECCG after their stance last year of not dropping a team due to the extra game results, I'd be surprised if it didn't accelerate the eventual outcome we all know is coming - the SEC and B1G form a super-conference and pull some select teams from the rest of the country and effectively kill the CFP as we know it.
This is the 5th ot 6th game in a row they looked bad. Offense collapsed mid season and is progressively worse each week. It’s certainly about more than injuries, it’s about being soft. ND or Miami would thump us at the level we are playing at.
Georgia has steadily improved and we have regressed. That’s coaching and lack of mental toughness.

Ten injuries, starting RB and defensive lineman out, this team needs some rest regardless.
I think that's the case. I also feel like we have been hanging on by a thread for a while now. It all came down like a flood on us today.

FWIW, I think we are better than some teams that think they deserve to be in, but I'm also not confident at all that we have the Jimmies and Joes to win it all with some of the teams in front of us.

We've known the offense is limited with the OL and RB issues, but I'm just not sure our other skill positions are as elite as we once thought.
