Official UA/AU post game thread...

I've hears a lot of people complain about how the team got worse towards the end of the season. To that I say: DUH! We lost two OL starters to suspension and a third to injury--and the OL wasn't exactly world lcass to begin with. What did you THINK was going to happen? The Tenn game may have given people a false sense of progress, but when you look at it, that was quite possibly one of the worst coaching jobs in Fulmer's career--and that's saying something.

This was a classic Iron Bowl. Both coaches called conservative, field position-type games. We had our chances, and didn't capitalize, leaving 10 points on the field and giving them 7 with that stupid roughing the passer call. That's the ball game right there, guys.

Key needs moving forward:

1. A strong purgative to cleanse the remnants of the Shula years from the program. These players need to understand that wearing that crimson jersey carries with it a serious responsibility.
2. OL
3. DL
4. A power back
5. a punter
6. A bowl bid, so that we can get an extra month of practice. I'd even go so far as to drop the deadwood before bowl practices start, as to not waste anymore time with them.

In addition to moving forward with the 4th quarter conditioning program.

Stand tall, Bama. The Tide has turned, and it will return strong.

As always, the game of football is won and lost in the trenches. The battles between their big uglies and our big uglies didn't go our way. They blocked better, they tackled better, they made the 3rd and shorts and we didn't.

Thank you, NCAA. Thank you Mike Dubose, Dennis Franchione, Mike Price and Mike Shula. Oh, and thank you verra, verra much Bob Connelly. The right side of our offensive line still can't hold a block.

I feel sorry for Wallace Gillbery the most because he is a great player that deserved better but more importantly he is a quality person that is going to missed.

I'm just ready for us to play this game with the same hunger and mean streak that the barn does. They really do own the iron bowl and say what you want about tubbs, he knows how to get his players prepared for us. I don't care if we have to hang tuberville quotes all over the locker room, put his picture up everywhere, make our players watch every second of the last 6 iron bowls. Losing this game is getting very old

Oh and one more thing, what was up with DJ tonight??? I mean on the first throw to him where they called a pass interference call, he could have caught the ball, but gave up on the play. And then there was the endzone pass where the ball hit him in the hands, I guess that's the last place you want to pass the ball to?????

I just feel we have a large group of players that don't care if they win or loose, a true BAMA player gives it his all and leaves it on the field, but not this group....maybe a few, but not the majority.

Makes me sad, and pretty ....ed off:cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss:

This might be totally wrong, but I thought Shula took over a team in much better shape than Saban did this year....I believe Shula went 3-8 his first year and after 4 years his win pct. was around .500. No depth... we wear down every year. I think we are going to be ok, but we have to get better on the OL and DL. I thought we had the best power run game of the season tonight, but we still are underachieveing compared to the rest of the conference.

What I don't understand is why it seems to be a multi-year project to rebuild the OL.

Auburn threw three freshmen in there this year ... and more or less dominated in the trenches tonight.

Depressing.

Just too many stupid mistakes tonight. Plus an inexplicable dropped TD by our best offensive weapon. But give Auburn credit -- they got off to a fast start, committed only 2 penalties (I think) all night, and their running game got it done when it mattered. Much like last year, Bama could have won the game, but the Boogers made the clutch plays when they had to.

Pretty much sums it up. Mistakes all over the field. Several missed blocking assignments. Dumb penalties at the worst possible times. JPW once again struggles. Our best WR drops a TD. Basically the whole month of November rolled into one game. Bama clearly lost it after LSU and has been in a tailspin ever since. I would have figured that Saban would have pulled them out of the funk but this team has some issues. I guess we can all now wait and bite our fingers to see if we can get into the Independence Bowl again.........

no beer left.............ed............confused...........hoping for better players.............aghhhhh...........help, i'm gonna have to kill Barn fans monday........

Two things (and this holds true for UGA, which also starts three freshman OL):

1. Great OL coach...Hugh Nall and Stacy Searels are terrific.
2. Multiple years in the same system. Familiarity and repetition breed success.

Not to mention that the suspensions and injuries, combined with the downhill effect of not giving a pile of turkey poop about recruiting OL has come back to bite us in our nether regions...
