I am now taking a fresh new look and a bold approach to our 2007 schedule...I don't see a team on this schedule that I now think we can't beat:

Sep 1 West Carolina....should win without difficulty
Sep 8 @ Vandy...dogfight for 3 quarters then we put it away
Sep 15 Arkansas...should have beat them last year, will this year
Sep 22 Georgia...Richt is good but not as good as Saban...we take a close one
Sep 29 FSU @ Jax...tough game but I believe we win it
Oct 6 Houston...this is a better team than most think, but we win a shootout
Oct 13 @ Ole Miss...crazy Ed will have 'um ready but we win
Oct 20 Tenn...with coaching could have beat them last year, we win this time
Nov 3 MSU...payback is coming Sly, but thank you for opening some people's eyes to the lack of coaching our team was getting
Nov 10 LSU...monster game all eyes on this one...ESPN Game Day on campus...toss up but I say we win it
Nov 17 ULN...win
I think we can go into the barn game undefeated this year...but at the worse have 2 losses...
Nov 24 @ barn...THE GAME I'M WAITING FOR...Nick beat the barn...tough game, may not win this game this year...but I'm still picking us to...

That's 12-0 playing Florida in SEC Championship game...is this too much to expect - probably, but hey this is Alabama football and I believe a coach does make the difference!

I can see us going into the Houston game with 3 straight losses. Not that we can't win those three games, just that Saban will still be implementing a new defense (which will be drastically different than Kines' in it's philosophy) and some new OC will still be doing the same on offense. These things take time. We will be tough and we will play tough, but there will be a transition period.

Now, the first really significant change that will be obvious to even the most casual observer, is that we will improve over the course of the season. I think we will see improvement during each season under Saban as he hones and perfects his product along the way, but especially in 2007 when everything is brand new for everyone.

Therefore, Bama rises from the ashes of a 3-game meltdown to roll off 7 straight wins with huge victories over UT, LSU, and AU and finishes at 9-3.

Whether or not 6-2 will win the West is only a guess. With the tie-breaker over LSU and AU, we could end up in ATL.

I'll predict 10-4.

I won't do a Undefeated prediction but I do like the fact that we have alot of big games at home. I hope this brings back the fear of playing again in Tuscaloosa. A home game here in the golden days was a W on the board.

Unbeaten 1st year... would be nice. I'm not going to argue, because even with probation and lack of coaching our team has kept games close. There have been very few exceptions when a team has just flat out beaten us in the last few years. With the addition of Saban, I think we can start kissing those nail bitting losses goodbye. RTR

I think a lot depends on what we can do to fill the holes we lost on the D, especially on the DLine. With the two coaches coming on yesterday both having good experience with DLine, I think we are doing everything we can. The nice thing is that defensive strategies are easier to learn and master than offensive schemes and our kids are pretty good at learning new schemes quickly. Also, NS will have all Spring to put his plan in place, leaving the team to study all summer.

I've always pointed to 2007 as our year to have a shot. I think Shula could have taken us to 8-4, 9-3 or better and now I expect Saban to be 9-3 or better - more like 10-2 or 11-1.

The key game to me is the Arkansas game. If they can return enough of their talent (and they will unless there is a defection with transfers) they will be the preseason favorite in the SEC West. JaMarcus Russell will go to the NFL once he realizes he'll be a Top 5 pick and Auburn is losing too much talent to truly contend. If we can win in Arkansas, we'll get the padding we need to make it to Atlanta.

Remember Auburn will have to play AT Florida, AT Georgia, AT Arkansas and AT LSU next year before hosting us in November.

LSU has an easy schedule - their only tough road game is us. They get Auburn, Va Tech, Florida & Arkansas in Baton Rouge.

But the easiest schedule is Arkansas. They trade Southern Cal for Troy but do play at Alabama, Tennessee and LSU. Their rotating SEC E opponents are Kentucky away and South Carolina at home.

So we have a decent schedule with enough marquee games to position us high in the polls if we win. We have the coach and will shortly have the highest paid assistant coaching staff in the nation. We have a great returning offensive squad with a Heisman-caliber QB. If we can get enough depth on defense, especially on the line, we've got a VERY real shot at New Orleans.

Seems very reasonable as well. I actually have two predictions. I made my first one two days ago. I was in a boring meeting day-dreaming about the '07 season. I thought there are six games that are tough. I actually predicted 2-4 for those 6 games, for a record of 8-4. If we can go 3-3 or better, I said that would be exceeding expectations.

Of course, 48 hours of basking in the glory of MM's walk-off home run has already caused me to up the ante from 8-4 to 9-3!

By August, I'll be sitting at 12-0!

I too want to see other teams fear coming to Tuscaloosa. But, to talk about the "golden days" is to ignore the fact that all the big games during that time were played at Legion Field.

Anyone who can run the table through a SEC schedule gets my respect. Unfortunately for Alabama it would also probably get a LOI from the NCAA.

Just kidding a little folks. ;)

Didn't CNS tell us not to focus on end results and records and all that?

Just messing around.

I think we will all be impressed with our team next year. The defense will be tough and quick and the offense will be able to score. I think we can win any game on our schedule if we can score 24 points. With our receivers, JPW, and the great stable of RBs that we still have, we should have a pretty potent offense.

I'm really looking forward to Fall 2007!!!

Sounds like you dont have alot of confidence in that "3-4 under" defense, you got us averaging 17.25 points a game on defense. Thats only three quarters of a point less than this year. i think our defense will adjust a little better than that.

I think you maybe jumping the gun a little. We will lose some games next year. Although I wish we wouldn't but this is not over yet it's going to take some time before we our up to par. I for one am not getting my hopes up. It's going to take a year or two then let the good times roll.

That's a very good schedule for a team with a new coach to have. Some challenges that will show where we really are, but all challenges are manageable, and most come at home. This team should be surprisingly good, especially if Saban can haul in a few need position recruits on D. I'll say only a couple to three losses.

And just to note, this year should remind us what a good O-Line looks like, I like the talent available there...
