Pass Interference or Good Coverage????

The real question is whether Irons could even read Oakley's last name on the back.

Its hard to tell but his armband has this on it.

Does it matter that Irons isn't even looking toward the ball? Knocked away or not, isn't there a caveat that says you have to be making a play at the ball, not just watching the player and guessing then the ball was to arrive?

No. Not necessarily. If the DB times it just right he can deliver a bone crushing hit at the moment the ball arrives regardless as to where his eyes are. (Normally if you're going to lay a big hit you'll be looking at the player.) Though, there may be a similar penalty in the pro game for something like face guarding. I'm not totally sure on that. A player once was able to decapitate a receiver in the pro game but now the NFL is starting to place WR's 'going for the ball' or as they say 'a defenseless player' under the protective umbrella of penalties that QB's have been protected by the last few years. I think the face guarding penalty was more designed for a trailing DB on a long pass just running up a WR's back without any regards to the ball, usually because he was beaten on the play.

We could make a photo album of barnies horrible plays to win games last year.
We could also write an anniv. biography of Bamas biggest screwjobs since 1995 as well detailing pics from the beginning of that 95' endzone no call game with Ark in BD stadium. Seems to be the call that started it all until now.

I suppose you missed the Barn/LSwho and Barn/FU games last year?

the Barn/LSU game last year ended on the most blatant, should have been easy to call pass interference. The Barn defender (not sure which one) mugged the LSU receiver but pass interference was not called. If it had LSU would have come back to win the game. While every team gets a break now and then, they seem to have gotten quite a few in the past few years (2 yrs in a row against LSU). . . that is except for the People's National Championship!

The ball was tipped before it got there and the hit was almost at the same time as the ball arriving. If the ball had not been tipped it would have been pi however it was still VERY close but it was tipped and thats why it went that way.

Ears , Lowder & the barn must have a slush fund for the officials . Even after the introduction of instant replay , some obvious calls weren't corrected . Ever since Ears quit throwing games with fake kicks the barn has led the league in blind eyes , fake wins & other gifts from the officials .:frown:

I assume you are talking about the call at the end of the LSU/AU game last year. If so, watch the replay at http://youtube.com/watch?v=XAHL8rCd1RU. The contact was before the ball was tipped.

If you want to see David Irons at his best mugging, watch http://youtube.com/watch?v=cPhQGRUQLTs

These were just two of the terrible calls that went in AU's favor against LSU last year.

I hadn't seen this. It has to be the best video on the play in question so far. If you want a breakdown of the entire play, including the NCAA rules then this is it. It even has a still photo at the end that shows that the call made on the field was wrong. It also has scrolling text in the video that explains every question and gives every answer.

I can't help but laugh watching that second clip! Not only does Irons MUG his man, but the other receiver in the clip #9 (Doucet maybe?) also gets MUGGED by his defender! Typical pass coverage from the barn! :rolleye2:

You guys were most definitely robbed on that play near the end of the game though. The contact was clearly made BEFORE the ball was ever tipped, thus even if you don't call interference some sort of call has to be made. Too bad that couldn't have been us playing ya'll in a situation like that, cause then it could've been payback for that mugging in 04.
