Pat Forde leaves Trent off of his Heisman ballot

If it wasn't enough to have regional bias against us, much of the media in our own state seems to have an axe to grind against Bama. I think Mark Ingram's ties to the north (Michigan) helped him get the votes he needed; that and the split between Suh and McCoy in the midwest.

Living in Tennessee, the media here GLOWS about the vols, even when they're down.

Sad, really, that Trent would've won it had he gone to play anywhere else.

quite thinking about the heisman when SA didn't get at least an invite. I'm glad MI won the award because he was very deserving, and made a great year for the University of Alabama even better, but I think Trent will be fine regardless and I won't lose any sleep over RG3 winning it. Both are excellent representatives of their respective universities. Though I admit, the Matthieu love is a bit surprising. It's great marketing, and don't get me wrong he's a talented individual, but he was basically non existent for two weeks in a row (suspension and 11/5) but c'est la vie. Football games are won on the fields, awards are sometimes won in back room discussions and with media/marketing.

I'd love for Trent to win, but I'm not going to be upset if he doesn't. I gave up on the Heisman after the ESPN media campaign won it for Woodson over Manning.

To be honest, I'd be okay with Trent not winning. I agree that this year has a surplus of great candidates. I do not agree Honey Badger should be even close to winning. With my crimson glasses, I say Trent, RG3, Ball. Without them, RG3, Trent, Ball. RG and Ball both have done incredible things this year, and I think they deserve recognition.
(Please don't ban me for saying I'd be okay if TR didn't get it.)

In addition to the "SEC fatigue" factor, I kinda believe that the country is also experiencing a little "Alabama" fatigue. Two years of the NC and Heisman winner coming from the state of Alabama, I could see that creating some bias across the country. Right or wrong, it is what it is. TR's life will go on. He is humble enough to just be thankful for the invitation to NY, and that humility shows character. It makes me proud that he's one of ours and solidifies his place as one of the greats to ever play at Alabama.

I agree that TR is the best RB in the country hands down... but how did Ball from Wisconsin go un-noticed for the majority of the year? That guy put up some great stats IMO the 2nd best conference in the country.

My guess is because their QB, Russell Wilson, was the bigger star for their team all year until the Big 10 Championship game...apparently.

]I don't know. Did his backups ever play/score?? Trent's did quite often[/B]. Anyway, who cares?

Trent had his chances to dazzle voters and apparently he did not. Plus, Ingram had the great "back story" to go along with his Heisman and that seems to have become a major factor in the voting.

The best thing Trent and Bama can do is run it down LSU's throat and thus earn the biggest prize of them all.

what?
do you get to count your backups stats now? last time i checked, you dont get credit for the time your not on the field...so lets just say that TR3 not finishing the games because Saban wanted to keep him healthy may have hurt his chances.

He was awarded the Doak Walker, though...so it isnt like his greatness hasnt been recognized.

Believe me, I love TR3, and feel he's the most dynamic back in the country, but there ARE other great players out there as well, and we shouldnt have to resort to disparaging their accomplishments.

Like one other poster says, it sounds a little like Ok St.

But, I sure do like you last line...and thats the best award for TR3, a BCSNCG ring may ease the pain.

Does anyone remember who won it the year Emmit Smith was a senior? Who ever it was he sure as heck isn't in the NFL hall of fame and he sure as heck doesn't have a hand covered in super bowl rings. I like the idea of the Heisman, but the lack of fucus displayed by the voters makes it hard to take it seriously.

Ball is very good I'm sure, and if you went by pure stats he or Case Keenum would get the Heisman but...

I watched highlights of about 20 of his TDs. Only two had any kind of contact in him. The Badgers are supposed to have a fantastic offensive line, and Russell Wilson obviously opened up their offense some. So, the very valid question would be is he just so good that 90% of his TDs have no real contact or is the line or Wilson so good that Ball had an easy time of things.

Trent is kind of the inverse, we know teams played to stop him and we know he opened up the passing game...

That's been my biggest problem with this whole Heisman scenario this year... it's one thing if you think RG3 or whoever deserves the award. That's fine with me and I have no problem with that. The way that Trent is being left off of so many ballots, though (at least based on the ones we know about) is just a disservice to what he's done. Just my take on it. It's absolutely ridiculous. The words "voter ineptitude" come to mind.

I guess this is why we have republicans & democrats, and Baskin robbins has 31 flavors (some of each I can't stomach) its just based on opinions & you know everyone has one. Some is just driven by agenda's. Not playing last Saturday was a really big deal but you know If, if , if we won on Nov 5th a lot of things would be different. I truly think Trent is more interested in helping his team win a championship than getting a trophy of any kind. To me that is what makes hims so special. Don't worry about Trent he has a great future ahead of him, the things tht happen Saturday night we have No control over, November 5 th we lost that and we are just so blessed or lucky to have another opportunity coming up.

I am sure a lot of heisman votes have forgotten how dumb they were when the left out Peyton Manning.

It would be wrong, but it is a factor

I was afraid Trent's Heisman chances might suffer because of the BCS vote.

It is no coincidence that TRs stock started dropping at the same time Alabama locked in the BCSCG.

It is a shame that the Heisman voters are taking their frustration out on TR

I too was afraid of the backlash against Trent. These people are so unbiased. What a joke! I think some really do justify it in their own mind.:BigA::mad2::BigA:

what a jerk! like i told everybody as soon as alabama made it in the championship, they'll backlash against trent. I hate people who punish kids just cuz the bias against the sec.rtr. win the championship

People who leave TR3 off the Heisman ballot because of Bama standing in the National Title Game is both a disservice and disrespect to Alabama, Trent Richardson and the Heisman Award itself. These voters should have their voting privileges revoked.

Bottom line though is, your accomplishments throughout the year gets you noticed and in the running for the Heisman. Whoever plays in, and has a breakout game in, the last games played of the year, win the award. I've been mad the whole week regarding TR not only losing the award, but being left off of some ballots.

The 9-6 loss in Tuscaloosa keeping us out of the SECCG kept the Heisman from TR. It got the Honey Wagon on the ballot being in that game. I believe TR holding the crystal up and displaying the mate to his other NC ring might ease his pain(and mine) a bit!!

It seems more this year than any other that it depends greatly what you do in not just the biggest games of the year, but apparently what you do in the last game of the year has made more of am impact this year than any other. I think that not playing in the championship game was the big factor. I love Trent's body of work this year, but sadly the last game (or should I say no game) seems to weigh heavily on voters minds.
