Link: Payton Thorne is getting Venmo requests from fans

“It’s really hard to not play a young man, whether it’s Payton or whoever, that consistently is the best performer in practice over and over and over again… However, you have to carry that over in games,” Freeze said.

Seems the boogs are having a similar problem.

Their problem is a lot worse than ours

We need to tell AuDub that Thorne played extremely well and it is on their OL for his terrible performance against Cal...😎

This is not an easy coaching decision but a very, very real one regardless of the sport. There are players who out perform their competition in practice but cannot produce that same level of play in the games. However, the player behind him plays better in games than they do in practice. I played HS baseball with the best practice player to ever walk the earth. He was a beast at practice and in scrimmages. But the problem was he couldn't do it in games and the guy he was so much better than in practice ultimately took his spot and played very well. It's not an exact science. 🤷‍♂️

Dad, who built Vegas?

Auburn fans who like to bet on their team son.

There is absolutely no way you can compare JM to Payton Thorne.
I am not comparing players, rather, situations. Referring to the quote from sleeze, he is saying that there is no way he can not play the best guy he sees in practice every week. Buzzard said it the best above about practice players and gamers. The only way you can know for sure is play them in games. He probably needs to get his backup some reps in every game as do we.

Why not? Alabama has played two teams with vastly inferior talent. Milroe has done what he does against those teams, played explosive football.

Thorne dominated an inferior opponent, and struggled against a team with similar talent.

We can come back to this after the Georgia game, at home in Tuscaloosa. Should be a fairly even comparison then

To tell you the truth, I'm a member of the Bama Rivals site and there are only maybe 1 or 2 threads talking about the play of the QB or calling for a change in the QB. It seems to be a Tidefans trend and not the norm.

Dude...kid that played baseball with my oldest son was like that. Was an absolute cage monster! But a 2x8 liability in right field and couldn't touch a live pitch. Got mad when replaced and quit.

That's cool. Guess we are a special bunch over here. Been doing it a long time too. That Rivals site is way inferior by the way.

My son’s team had a player like that. He would literally hit every pitch in the cage. In 12 games, he didn’t touch the ball ONCE.

That’s not surprising. Pretty much everyone I talk to stares at me blankly when I mention replacing Milroe, or they accuse me of being racist. I mean, I get it, tons of people like objectively bad things. Even the Cleveland Browns have fans. People still buy Apple computers. They’re out there.

Hitting the baseball requires a lot of nerve (courage) skill and mechanics. I believe it is a truism that if you can hit the ball they will find a spot in the lineup for you.
