That's quite a bit of growth in 6 months with the Hawaiian Ti Plants. How tall would they get and can you cut them back? Would they be able to handle the teens?

No they would not handle the teens. They are tropicals. Yes they can (and should) be cut back. Different varieties have different heights but in general they average 3-5' high.

The campaign continues tonight. Started off with four rats in my garage and am now down to just two Hoping this trap I bought from HD today will help me get these last two.
The reason I know how many I have is I set up one of my trail cameras - which documents everything that goes down overnight.
This war has been going on now for a couple months. I've tried a bunch of other methods so far with limited results. These rats are much smarter than humans.....or at least smarter than me!

Today I picked up some palms at a nursery south of me about an hour or so. Been trying to get some Alexander and Piccabeen Palms for some time from some of my usual vendors and finally decided to go get 'em myself.
Everything went fine, thankfully. My single axle landscape trailer is on it's last legs and I was concerned about it falling apart somehow or at the minimum getting a flat while loaded down. I brought along a spare wheel, scissors jack, some pieces of wood, and a cordless impact wrench with the appropriate sized socket for the lugs nuts. Fortunately I didn't need them and as I said everything went fine.
The only thing I didn't do is get the nursery crew to put the root balls a little further back on the trailer to spread the weight better. I had a lot of tongue weight today. They had them loaded while I was still out in the nursery with the manager picking out more material.
Anyway.....here's one pic of three plants which are kinda collector items that you don't see very often. They are called Dracaena draco and come from Africa. The ones I got today are still small but mature enough to give me a decent head start.

I stopped at the Race Trac to fill up with gas before getting back on the Interstate and grabbed a bite inside. I was starving. I got a small "pig in the blanket" thing with a hotdog that contained cheddar cheese and jalapeno pepper - man that was delicious! There was guy in front of me with a Bama tee shirt so I gave him a "War Eagle" in blue font, which made him laugh. He said he was born in T-town and a UA grad. I told him how much I respected and enjoyed watching the Tide play.
Those 2 big palms are the Alexander Palms I was after.....I cut the root balls down a bit and pulled them upright so could admire them. I have a helper coming tomorrow to help me install them here at my place.

Another pic of the Alexander Palms. They are so beautiful and have their own unique look. Not too many landscapers use them, surprisingly.
No armament and they self prune as the grow. Their flower stalks are also very light so you don't have these huge fruit stalks to deal with. Native to Australia, as are the Piccabeens.

It was soooo nice out tonight after sunset. Light breeze, low humidity, and shorts, tank top and flip flop temps! I was sitting there relaxing and noticed some nice blooms on my White Bird of Paradise......check it out.....
