So, does Gus try to get another job or hang on for the full payout? As much as Stoops has run his mouth about the SEC, it would be a shame to see SEC teams hammer him...............He may very well go. I thought he had pretty much decided he was done, but so be it............I'd love to see Bama beat him a few times............

I guess Bama can send Butch on down the road and give Gus an analyst job

Coach Saban would never hire a playground offensive mind for an analyst. It would serve no purpose , except maybe to install trick plays.

Oh, I know.............just heard some AU fans stating they would probably give Gus a position to spite AU

I went to ITAT to read some funnies and found this. Not a good look!
https://scout.com/college/auburn/Bo...ing-of-......-getting-away-with-it-125343799/

The link may not work, the post is in ITAT who is #74.
I can guess it’s the clip of Jedrick Wills going after the Auburn player on the ground.
Do I condone it? No

However you don’t what happened to precipitated that. (See Raekwon Davis v Missouri).

I’m certain no one on ITAT was concerned when Coe of Auburn “clubbed” Bozeman last year and sent him out of the game with a concussion.

I've got several friends (Auburn fans) who are now saying that Dabo is coming to Auburn....These people have lost their ever loving minds...Dabo, really??
Yeah
1) Because Dabo walked-on at Auburn because he loved the school so much
2) Because Dabo hates Nick so much he wants to play him yearly in the Ironbowl , instead of the CFB playoffs yearly.
That’s about all I can come up with , and the sarcastic font is implied

Anyone who ever shouts the vacancy about "the SEC offices are in Birmingham" needs to be shot out of a canon.

The SEC offices were in Bham when we were 3-9 and Auburn won the SEC West in 2000, too.

I hate to break it to some of you Bama fans, but if the barn made an offer good enough to his liking, I think Dabo would leave Barn with a Lake for the Barn in a New York minute.

Yeah, anybody that stupid, well, come to think of it, go ahead and bring him in...

To make the change for that kind of coach (which I doubt would be interested in that dumpster fire of a program) would cost around $100M+ considering the buyout of Gus and his assistants AND the new coach and his staff.
:biggrin2:

There is absolutely no way that is happenning . Zero, zilch. He may use it for leverage for a raise, but he will not be the coach at Auburn. No way he would trade his program that is humming like a well oiled machine in a weak conference with a 90% chance of making the playoffs every year, for a 3 year rebuilding job at a school that has to play Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M , and Georgia every year with all the recruiting battles that go with it . and , under the same inept administration and booster overlords that control every barner thought process? . No way! I will eat this iPad I’m typing on and video it , to prove it , if that happens in the next 5 years .

Any coach, including Stoops and Dabo, would give Auburn a look because they have the well-earned reputation of paying stupid money to their coaches. Clemson and Auburn are similar in so many ways right down the borderline play on defense. I suspect that Dabo would fit in well down there unfortunately. I mean Barfield sand Chizik are probably the coaches in their history with the most character and they simply couldn’t succeed there. The whole Auburn family has borderline personality disorder. Lure you in then turn on you.

To further drive the Wing Nut Barners over the edge...
Maybe we should all lie and claim we have been in the REC for the last 10 years...
Tell em we are responsible for Coach Saban beating them.

They live and breath conspiracy theories...

If anyone thinks that Stoops quit on his own with the team he had coming back is dissulusioned. Something happened or he would still be there. That being said, Moozahn was sent away to AR State to let Chiz fail and brought back to replace him. Moozahn has derailed two teams AR and au. He went from a private school coach to slapping au for the $. Jay Jacobs is lol.

If you are talking about $20 mil a year or some other preposterous salary - even then, only maybe. Anyone with an ounce of sense sees their handling of coaches, they see the eternal dysfunction of their administration, they see the behemoth that is Alabama, they see the ridiculous expectations. For Dabo, add that he is on easy street at Clemson regarding competition and his current success. And if you believe that he has a genuine love for his history with Alabama, you can add that. Money is not everything and that is all that AU would have to offer Dabo and Clemson would likely match anyway. It would be more than shocking for him to seriously consider an offer. Leverage maybe.

Note too, the kind of coaches that AU always hires. They have never hired a big time coach in their history - not once, ever. They were all up-and-comers or worse. Jordan, Barfield, Dye, Bowden, Tuberville, Chizik, Malzahn. Is it because they require a certain kind of control over any coach that they hire?

I would not be surprised if the Stoops rumors were pure fabrication. Maybe not, but again why would he do it? I don't know how big his ego is, but that is the only reason I can see that he would be intrigued, along with the money: take down the greatest run ever. Greed and glory - the driver behind most endeavors. Even if he was serious, once he saw how they run things and the requirement of his complicity, IMO, he would reject it. But OU has had a history of its own, so who knows.
