What do you think the coaching staff does with the game plan for this Saturday against E. Ill?

As JessN, alluded we win this game probably only playing the 3rd team.

I'm interested in how we handle the QB role and RB role. How much do we play the starters OR do we?

I'd like to see Ty sit this one out and try to get healthy. I think Mack and Russell need to play most/all of the game.

But I'd like to see D. Hill and Deare get alot of touches too.

What do y'all think?

Too hard to say since it depends how soon we get the big lead but however CKD utilized the players last season vs. Mercer would be a good guide. I think Ty will start but the backups will get a lot of snaps.

speaking of healthy. I started thinking about Jam pre season injury on his lower body. I don't believe he's actually 100%. he came back and made an impact in the Georgia game, but fans all thought he was going to fix the running game once he healed. as it is, he's slower than before and doesn't hit the hole at all. then the concussion happens and the Jam who we saw last year isn't even the same guy. watch his highlights from last year when he Haynes was known as the Jam & Justice show ran well and broke several long runs for TDs.

For as long as I can remember, spanning multiple coaching staffs, and seeing what other schools do, the SOP for these games tends to be playing your starters exclusively for the 1st quarter - and then in Q2 you begin sprinkling in reserves more than you’d normally see assuming you’ve built a lead. Starters play another series in the 3rd, and then it’s typically time to empty the depth charts (again, assuming a sizable lead).

The CKD staff plays more players in general than Saban did, so assuming no craziness I would expect something similar to what we saw against ULM this season.

Lord help us if we struggle at all against a 3-8 FCS school.

I will say that I’ll be watching closely what happens with Mercer and Auburn. Mercer is ranked #4 in FCS and is 9-1 overall. Crazier things have happened.

I think Auburn will lay waste to Mercer as they wrap up their 11 game prep for the Iron Bowl.

We'll pound E Illinois. Pick your score. Let's see some guys WHO WILL BE the team next year get a LOT of play time.

I need to see #72 take some snaps, honestly. Heck, let him attempt a FG.

I think we should start Ty (it would be an insult to bench him if not truly hurt) and let him get 3-4 drives in. Let him set up and fire the ball downfield against a lesser defense and take a deep breath and rebuild some confidence.

Then play everyone when we are up by 21 points.

I would run Hill at least 15 times, let him get the feel of things alternate him with Dear and get him ready. Maybe a few snaps for Riley. Maybe just rest Jam??? He looks bad out there, and I think he is hurt.

Get the younger OL involved some to see what they can do.

On defense, play everyone who is ready and reward some walk-ons...

Let the back up punter kick a couple... And definitely let another FG kicker have a chance.

I would use this game like the ULM game. Work on some things with your starters. Get a comfortable lead. Then play the backups. Empty the bench if possible.
