I'm not familiar with the Steak House...That’s where the old Steak House was located.
There is a Slugburger Cafe on Hwy 72 in Corinth, MS. Evidently, slugburgers are considered a delicacy in Corinth.Or a Depression Era "slugburger", filled with oatmeal or white bread, like Penn's in Decatur...
Penn's recipe is on the net. It calls for ten loaves of bread to five pounds of ground beef. That's a lot of bread. I took my wife and I was frankly disappointed. They didn't taste nearly as good as I remembered...There is a Slugburger Cafe on Hwy 72 in Corinth, MS. Evidently, slugburgers are considered a delicacy in Corinth.
That sounds more like meatloaf than a burger.Penn's recipe is on the net. It calls for ten loaves of bread to five pounds of ground beef. That's a lot of bread. I took my wife and I was frankly disappointed. They didn't taste nearly as good as I remembered...
My college roommate was from Corinth. Tried it and it wasn’t terrible. Just make sure a bathroom is near by as they run through you quickly, ha!There is a Slugburger Cafe on Hwy 72 in Corinth, MS. Evidently, slugburgers are considered a delicacy in Corinth.
I'd say deep-fried meatloaf isn't a bad description. My wife, who grew up in a family restaurant, took one bite and said "tastes funky, like there's something else in there." (I hadn't told her they were slugburgers. Here's one guy's review. He obviously wasn't familiar with the way they're made either...That sounds more like meatloaf than a burger.
Went for the first time because of all the hype. I can honestly say this was the worst so called Hamburger I've ever had in my 42 years of living. There was not a hint of ground beef at all, no texture and 100% bread. The good news is that we called and spoke with the manager who was completely transparent, open and honest. She straight up said some people love them some hate them and they get calls like this all the time. She also mentioned that the "meat" is premixed from a supplier and they don't mix it in house. My suggestion is to get with that supplier and tweak the recipe asap because what I had was 98% bread and 2% meat if that.. However, She did understand my concern and allowed me to bring 3 of the 5 burgers back to exchange for some chicken tenders. So ultimately she made it right at least. I'm from huntsville al and we have a similar joint called big spring Cafe. They are really good and on thing is for sure, they use 100% ground beef! Based on the experience and transparency from Sam I'll give them 2 stars and I may consider going back but only if they sell real 100% beef burgers. Until then, I'll stick with Big Spring Cafe and Krystals.
That review reminds me of the first time I ate at Skyline Chili in Cincinnati. I love chili and had heard people talk about how great Skyline is. I think they put cinnamon in their chili, and I didn't like it at all.I'd say deep-fried meatloaf isn't a bad description. I tried Skyline once. It will not happen again. Cinnamon chili is just plain wrong. I worked at an office that had a chili cook off and someone made it. That somehow got votes from people. That review reminds me of the first time I ate at Skyline Chili in Cincinnati. I love chili and had heard people talk about how great Skyline is. No matter what your friends tell you, they appreciate the gesture, but HATE the chili. Just so you know.i like chili with cinnamon in it. we make a skyline style chili a few times a year and i really enjoy it. it is also our go-to dish to take to friends when they need a meal delivered.
Six Krystals and a bowl of Krystal Chili with a Dr. Pepper. Now there's some good eatin'!!Until then, I'll stick with Big Spring Cafe and Krystals.
